The screen has a Plexiglas protector over the actual screen. If that is all that is cracked you can go to the hardware and have them cut a piece of Plexiglas the same size. an It's fixed much cheaper the ordering a factory replacement.

Good Day, cjm364;
It sounds like the TV's panel has failed. A 2 year old TV should not fail in this manner. Call the manufacture and express your concerns to them very strongly and 90% of the time they will give a concession.
Good Luck, Big Irish, Let me know.

R49W36 that cuts off and on

Hi, your other option is to talk to other repair shops in your area, or call zenith (LG) and ask for repair shops they recommend, tech u talked to wants the easy way out rather than troubleshooting the board to find the 1,2, or 3 parts that are actually bad, be advised that the good old zeniths are now owned by LG industries and contrary to the tv commercials that tell you "LG" = lifes good, it actually stands for lucky goldstar the korean outfit that has owned zenith for quite awhile now, sad but true, video-tek

How old is that TV?

Order from here:

Wow! I think that's a rear projection TV, so it may be time for a new one!, as the part is about $175 + shipping, + installation + your time, + they break pretty easily.

Good luck.

Screens are pricey if you can find them. What are the measurements to Your screen? The shop I work for has a couple of used screens for sale a 47 and 50 inch. I can measure them and see if the 50 is the same size.

Dlp tv wont start up/ switches off

Hi.

This model of LG set does suffer badly with dry joints (these are soldered joints that have oxidised or cracked)

Its not A job that I would recomend you tackle you may need specialised soldering gear when working on smd type ICS.

Try & find repair shop that does free estimates.

If A repair shop states they will repair in the home offer to take it in to them as this is very difficult to repair in the home & you will end up paying more for them to come out then take it away.
