USB is a very convenient standard that is simple to use for connecting devices by wire. Most devices can be swapped in and out with the power turned on. It is a type of hot connect and disconnect. There are exceptions for this depending on the type of device.
I have printers, scanners, external drives, modems, headsets, thumb drives, and some smart phones that connect by USB. Simply connect and do the job. When finished simply disconnect the device and get on your way.
Starting in 2016 there may be some new computers coming out where it can work with multiple devices using a form of wireless system that works as simple as USB once the devices have been mated with the computer. The system will work something like Bluetooth, but more refined and can work with multiple devices.
1. Please make sure your USB cable is working fine. better to connect your phone using another USB cable.
2. Change the phone's battery, or make sure its more than 80% charged and in good condition.
3. Try to connect with different USB Port on your PC.
Hope your problem will be solved.
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.
Connect your GPS to your computer with the USB cable and this will charge the GPS internal battery. Of course your computer will have to be on during the charging process. After a few hours turn on your GPS and see if it now works. If it now works then go to http://www.garmin.com and register the GPS. While you are on line also download the latest USB drivers for your computer and install them. When you reboot your GPS should be properly connected to the computer for Operating system downloads etc.
This is a HP hardware/software error and HP has not fixed it.
C4250 may report that "USB is not connected" but the printer works just
fine and when you use the Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard to carry
out a scan, it works just fine too. So the error message is wrong.
The Microsost Scanner and Camera Wizard can be found on the Control Panel.
I have the same problem. The unit works until I connect it to whatever computer via USB (Mac or PC). The screen blanks out as soon as I plug in the USB cable. I have to disconnect the device and only then I am able to turn it on again. That started after Firmware update from V 2.90 to 3.00 . I am not sure this is causing problem. What about the firmware versions of your devices ? Are they all on the latest ?
However, does anybody know if there is a way to go back to firmware version 2.9 if it is not possible anymore to connect the device to any computer (evtl. through putting data on the microSD card ?).
I had the same problem and was going crazy trying to figure this out, but I found that I had installed the GPX mw3816 on my bottom USB port and was trying to plug it into the port above it, because I had plugged another unit into the bottom port, but I switched the ports and it immediately installed. This is another reason, I am thinking of dumping windows and moving to a MAC. Peace!
