HP Photosmart C5280 InkJet Printer Logo
Posted on Feb 17, 2011

Have HP printer C-5280. Keep getting paper jam message (no jam) and loud clicking sound as print cartridge moves back and stays in regular position. Is this something that is fixable, or is it time for a replacement.

I have same problem as Jchouinard1... same loud grinding (klicking) skipping lines, dbl printing.. and no HP repairshop here in Las Paknas de gran Canaria except for lacer printers... I just don´t need a lot of jaba jaba jaba abd I´m not going to ship the bloody beast all the way to Madrid... I want it fixed here and preferably in some dinky shop around the corner.. Not by somebody who doesn´t know Sam from Eva but some dude with some brains in his knuckles or toes... Those claiming having brains (for money) don´t even fit my own standard which is 2 masters in engineering... At 90 minus a nut or 2 I can still handle most handtools.. so what the **** is going on in HP printerland... Anyone nearby (or else) can reach me at

I keep getting an error message about a paper jam for my printer but there is absolutely no paper jammed anywhere in the machine.

Have you tried a new toner cartridge, The toner cartridge has moving parts, and of the cartridge gets stuck, the printer may indicate a paper jam.

Also paper often tears when clearing jams, and the little shreds of paper can stay in the rollers of the printer and keep it jammed. Make sure to inspect all the rollers to make sure they move freely, and do not have anything stuck in them.

It starts printing, then stops, the printer cartrige is jammed

Try emoving the duplex cartridge on the back (return printer to it's original configuration) and try printing. If the printer prints OK, then re-attach the duplexer checking for anything that could interfere with the print cartridge.

If the printer doesn't print, then I suspect something has fell into the printer and is creating enough resistance for the printer to detect and report. Turn the printer off, Remove all the cables from it. Try inverting the printer and gently shake it to see if anything falls out that could be jamming the printer cartridge.

Heavier weight resume paper was apparently misaligned and started to jam printer. I pulled paper out and now carrier is stuck in middle, the power button and paper jam button both blinking. I tried...

Hi,
Although you got the paper out of the printer, there may still be some small pieces jammed under the print head. You may have to manually move the print head to get at the small pieces. You need to make sure the printer is unplugged before you try this. Once the carriage seems to move freely plug the printer back in, it should move to the right where it will come to rest. You should go through the change ink process, but just take out the one that's already in there and then put it back in again. Also run the head cleaning, alignment, and print test utility before attempting to print. If you still are having problems there may still be pieces of paper stuck in the print head. In that case repeat the process again. I hope this helps you.

Have a great day!

Sometime the ink jet mechnism is out of time or it gets stuck in the lock position. You might want to see if it looks like there crooked in the trays at the end of the printer.

HP C3180 all in one printer won't realign

Hi,

We've encountered several problem like this. Hope this gives an idea; I understand the cartridge will not moved back to park tray or flash ink tray back and forth because the return pick-up guide were not properly placed into each original position. It will block the ink tray moving back and forth. You can roll back the roller into the original place by removing the back cover if it has, then turn the pick-up roller slowly allowing the roller to turn and backed to its original position. Removed also remains of jammed paper pieces.
