LG washer (WM0532HW) whites turning dingy grey

I have had my LG for 4.5 years now and have noticed that the whites (specifically my husband's undershirts) come out a nasty, dingy grey after a month or so of washing. I've tried all cycles, all temperatures, whiteners, bleach, soaking overnight first - everything I can think of doing.
Any suggestions? Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

We too have had our LG front load washer. Clothes and towels last much longer when washed in the He machine. But, like the other person says its almost impossible to keep them white. Mine aren't grey, but they are not as white as they should be and have been previously in my old top load washer. Washcloths and dish towels do not get white, even when you use bleach according to instructions . I think they don't work as well in the he machines because, for bleaches to remove stains and for color safe bleach to lift residue and stains from clothes, the clothes need to soak in the solution for the entire wash cycle. The way clothes do in a top loader. I have tried everything except presoaking in bleach or color safe bleach. I also think that they don't save as much as they say. Also, the loads run so much longer, I feel like I spend much more time washing clothes. I personally would not recommend any front load washer.

White t-shirts are dingy. Is there a product to conteract this?

Clothes don't get as clean in a front loader as a top loader.

Same problem - white tshirts, underwear, socks, etc. are all now an ugly dingy grey.

I too have a front load washer. It is a Kenmore Elite and my husband is in the Navy, and has to wear white t shirts under his uniform everyday. These t shirts are looking really dingy and have bad under arm stains. I can't seem to find a solution to remedy the situation. In my old cheap top load washer I never had this problem. As someone else pointed out I think my laundry takes much longer to do than it did in the top loader. I will not recommend the HE washers to anyone.

We have a Maytag Epic front loader and I have the same complaint. I don't think my laundry gets nearly as clean in this machine as it did in the top loader. Especially rags; even one really dirty rag can make the whole load come out looking dirty. I've tried using bleach, and the load comes out smelling so strongly of bleach that I have to re-rinse it. Where's the energy savings in that?

I've also noticed that my towells aren't soft & fluffy any more, and even with a little fabric softener added, they come out smelling funny. They look much more worn than they did before we got this washer. And it's very noisy when it spins - yet they tell me there's nothing wrong with it. I literally went outside to look for the helicopter that I thought was hovering over my house. Then I realized it was my washing machine!!

I'm very disappointed in my front-loading washer, and wouldn't recommend one to anyone.

I too have a front load washer. The problem is that it's not washing off all the soap suds. Try this. After a complete cycle, soak the clean clothes in a container w/ water and you'll see there's still soap suds coming out of the clothes. I tried running it several wash cycles and there was still soap left on the clothes. I think, it's mfg defect. We should all complain to the maker of the machines.

I have had the same problem with dull & dingy whites. I have used the "plus water cycle, water softener, bleach, extra heavy washing cycle. I do love the convenience, and I have mine stacked and it has saved so much needed space, but I do miss my nice white whites.

Having the same issues with dingy whites in a HE washer. Part of my problem is that we are on well water, and I know there are metals/minerals in the water that are part of the cause. Suggest a water filter that goes inline on the hot and cold supply lines to start with. Second, HE washers are notorious for not getting all of the soap from the loads. Most people use the HE liquid detergent and use the fill cap to dispense enough for (1) load. This is still too much for the HE units and builds up over time. Try cutting back on the amount of detergent used.

We bought a new house with a HE G.E. front load washer & dryer when we moved to AZ 2 years ago and I've been going INSANE trying to get my whites clean! I didn't know if it was the water here (very hard, but we have a high falutin' softener),the HE machines or what! My whites look HORRIBLE and don't smell so great either. My towels constantly have a musty smell and I have to set the machine on the "sanitize" setting, pre-wash, extra rinse and then sanitize them in the dryer as well in order to even get them borderline clean and decent smelling. After 2 years of searching the Internet and talking to people at Home Depot and Lowe's and trying everything they told me to do (to no avail), I've pretty much determined that HE front loaders just ****. I'm in misery not being able to have sparkly clean and yummy smelling laundry.

Me too! This is crazy. I think it was better though when I used the Persol detergent Mega Pearls but at $46.25 for a box I cheaped out think I will go back to that!

LG Washer wm12225fd has error code LE, does not resolve after being unplugged. How do I fix this please?

Locked rotor error. it thinks there is a problem with the motor. can you turn the tub by hand freely with no binding. if smooth then ch hall sensor. at board or on rear find 4 pin connector with gray white blue and red wires. grey is ground. white is common red and blue are sensors. white to red or blue is approx 10 ohms. if either is open replace hall sensor. if drum is rough ck rotor splines (they can strip.) if drum pulls out at all up down motion or rotor is good and drum rough then bad main bearing.

How can I make the water drain from my LG WM0532HW washer with an LE code. BTW- it's had the hall sensor and the main board replaced already.

You can turn the power on, and hit the spin speed button, and then start it. It should drain out.

If your still getting an LE error, and already have replaced the Hall sensor, it's most likely the Stator. If you know your date of purchase, this is most likely still under the 7 or 10 year warranty. Meaning LG pays for the part (over $100.00+),

Whites are dingy. Random stains appear on my husband's dress shirts that weren't there when I put them in the wash. We have a water softener; don't know if that plays into the problems. Please help!

Put washer through a clean cycle with bleach only. Check to be sure you are using HE soap. Check the bellows(door seal) make sure it is not jamming clothes.

I wouldn't blame it on the washer but did you have the same problem with your previous washer? Are you using the same water source as previously. Do you use a chlorine bleach with it and did you use it before? Is the cheer a liquid or powder. You should us a powder.

I have an LG front load washer too and sometimes my whites don't come out as nicely as they should. Usually draining the machine and running several cleaning cycles solves the problem. I hope it works for you!
