Question about Maytag M6Q10F2A Air Conditioner

Open Question

Window air conditioner changes (raises) temps on its own

The digital temperature control changes by itself. I set it at a temp. and then it goes up higher on its own until it gets to 88 degrees and then of course it doesn't cool. This started as an occassional problem and now it is constant. I unplugged the unit to see if it would "reset" but that didn't work.
I checked to see if it had iced up inside due to the amount of humidity but that isn't the problem.
At first the remote contol seemed to work better than using the touch panel in keeping the temp stable and now there is no difference. We have had it for 2 years.
the model # is different than the one listed. The model# for our window maytag air conditioner is: M6Y12FB-J

Digital temperature changes to 86 every time your set it to a lower temperature how do I fix this

If this set temp changes on its own then the circuit board has failed. Call a service tech or replace the unit. But this 86° might be the indoor temp, not the set temp? If I set my temp to 75°, then my temp goes to 86°, then the set temp (target temp) is 75° & actual room temp is 86°. The unit may not be working properly. Not sure if this helps.

How do i put it on warm

on the remote control press mode button until u see the icon of the sun. then raise your temperature setting to the desired degree. there is a 3min delay from going from a/c, dehumidify to heat. temp will rise in the indoor unit. fan speed will be slow until it hits 90* across the evap coil then it will start ramping up in speed as temp rises.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Unfortunately the bandwidths of remotes often crossover. You can put tape over the ir sensor on the ac.

Have window unit. Can't activate heating. Temperature scrolled up to 76, but doesn't seem to work. Fans work

May be your room heat temp more than your temp setting. Raise up the temp. And also check wiring to heater.

Compressorruns fora short time

the thermostat controlling your unit likely has a window type of programming for digital or mechanical adjustment for older style thermostat that sets a minimum off temp and a maximum on temp, there may be an adjustment to set the range it operates at, otherwise you may have a defective thermostat controller unit and it needs replacing also insure that the temperature sensing element is clean and free of dust build-up and your filter is clean
