Problem with the lens most likely, I would take it in to be tested first, if you got warranty then that covers it.

see if the player tries to read the disc. Load a disc and listen.
    Does
the player make squealing noises or is it totally quiet? Squealing
noises may indicate that the player is trying to synchronize with the
disc but can't due to an obstruction on the lens or in the laser path
inside the pickup or a defect in the pickup. This can also be caused by
an intermittent signal problem due to a faulty ribbon cable.

    Totally
silent means that the photo sensor is not getting any usable input from
the laser at all, meaning that the pickup is "blind" for lack of a
    better word.
This can be caused by an obstruction of the beam by
foreign matter on the lens or inside the pickup all the way to a
marginal or failed laser diode and/or photosensor array. This can also
be caused by a bad ribbon cable with one or more severed traces.

    You
could try to clean the optics. This is the most common malfunction as
far as i know in all disc players. It would involve taking the cover
off and finding a way to expose the lense, and then cleaning it with a
very gentle brush. some players have a cover for the lense that swings
to the side during playing, this greatly reduces the chance of dust
accumulating, but its still worth the try.

If you actually see dust on the lense, then its just that simple. clean, close, play.

It may also be worth your while to check on the small shafting that
guides the carriage of the laser pickup. Dirt, grome, dust and
solidified lubricant can cause stoppage of the carriage and the laser
eye then fails to read the next track.

You can also take a cotton ball and lightly dampen it with
alcohol.Gently swirl it over the lens.Take another cotton ball (dry)Gently
    swirl it over the lens.

common f15 errors are caused by the cd players lid not being closed,
you need to see if the protruding plastics inside your cd player pushes
the closed lid detection properly. If not, it needs some manual
disassembly.I strongly recommend you to get it repaired. There are no home remedies.

I have a Phillips model 601/25 CD player and the CD drawer won't open - it makes a whirring noise but refuses to open.\r\n J A Adamson <jadamson35@gmail.com>

The rubber band has stretched with age. Easy fix, take cover off (several screws around the case) and band is easily accessed. Even a cheap elastic band will work as a replacement for now, it only opens the drawer mechanism, no effect on sound quality.

I have a 3-CD player. The system does not recongnize the discs and shows no disc in display. Is it the potentiometer adjustment that is required ? Please suggest.

  • The majority of the time when a disk player shows "no disk" when attempting to play a disk either the disk is formatted wrong for the player or most likely dirty.
  • Just get a lens cleaner and run it through the player two or three times. These lens cleaners are disks with very soft bristles on them that "sweep" the lens clean.
  • The lens is real dirty and needs a good cleaning to be able to read the CD. This is common with all disk players that have not had a cleaning as they should.
  • Be sure to give the cleaning disk a run through once a week.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

My Craig ESP 60S Portable CD Player won't work. It starts spinning then stops. I have tried mode and program, but nothing helps. This is my second Craig CD player to do this.

sounds like it has a faulty laser and it wont read so the player stops the cd spin motor. try cleaning it and see if it works
Good Luck!

When you put the cd in it dos'ent work

HI,
does the CD that you put in that doesn't play are the CD you use before and plays on your CD player? If yes then that is a lens issue the lens probably need replacement

try to clean first the lens of the player with a soft cloth dip in an alcohol wipe the lens do not apply too much pressure when wiping

are the CD format compatible with your player there are different audio formats which we must consider with the compatibility with the player ex..audio CD,MP3,MIDI,VCD,DVD,MP4 etc.your player must support this format to play this disk.

The primary cause of disk reading failure is the lens itself .if your CD player is more than 3 years old then it must be the lens to replace next is the spindle motor this motor is the one spins the disk the life span of this motor is 4 to 5 years this are the things to consider and you can decide which part needs relacement
thank you and good luck!

My girls princess disney cd player keeps saying that there is no cd in the player. I have no idea what's wrong with it.

the laser lens is most likely dirty, buy a cleaning disk, or use a microfiber cloth or eyeglasses cleaning cloth and gently wipe the lens in one direction to clean it. the lens will look like a small round clear piece of glass near the motor that spins the cd, if this doesnt work, then the laser has quit working

CD player JWIM JX-CD589 spins a disk, no display, faint sound

Unless this is an expensive machine replace it. There will most definately be an internal problem. It will most likely cost you most just to have the machine taken apart and inspected then it would cost to replace. Sorry...

Dropped unit and out popped a spring looking piece.  I cannot tell how it reattaches.  the player still works but the lid won't stay open when changing disks.

It's just the spring that pushes your lid back up, it's on the far corner of the lid where the lower part attaches to the top part, you need to get it in place there again...

Display reads "open"

Hi! on my Rio the contacts that tell it if its open or close are at the hinge side, 2 metal ribbons that come down from the cover side and touch other metal parts below them on the base side. I'm not sure if this is the same on your model but check it, if not, then on yours it might detect open/close on the latch mechanism, so check to see if the latch action is normal, or if it feels ****, sticky etc. either way - locate the open/close sensors, and make sure they look allright, not bent, broken or dirty, and see what you can do about it. have a nice day!
