Question about Maytag M7Y15F2A Air Conditioner

Open Question

Maytag air conditioner Model# M612FB-J

The digital temperature control changes on its own and will raise the temperature. I have unplugged the unit hoping that it would "reset" but that didn't work. This problem began with it happening occasionally and now it is almost everytime I try to use it.
At first it seemed if I adjusted the temp using the remote, it seemed more likely to stay at the temp it was set at. Now it doesn't seem to matter.
The lower the temp., the more likely it is to stay at that temp.
Thank you for your assistance!

I have the same problem. It had shut itself off, I thought it was done for. None of the buttons would work, remote or on the panel. Couple of hours later it turned itself back on and will not stay on the setting I had it set on. It beeps and raises the temp. clear up to 88 over a period of time with out me touching it.

I need to know if a mercury thermostat is bad will it allow the ac to come on but not the heater

need to know what thermostat you are referring to
the coolant thermostat has no connection to the ac system
if it is the ac thermostat the it maintains the cabin temperature by activating the ac compressor as required
if you are referring to climate control then that controls the heater flow to keep the ac temperature at a set temperature with the ac compressor operating all the time
so as an answer to you question , check the climate control module

Only recently my portable heller air conditioner is oosing out buckets of water each night. does it mean it finished and needs replacement,

Portable air conditioners cool the air, and in so doing, dehumidify the air. The "buckets" of water are coming from the humid air in your environment, so you need to do things that will reduce humidity, of be prepared to empty the condensate receptacle fairly often.

Using a small room, closing doors and windows to the room you want cooled, avoiding cooking or heating water, reducing the frequency of people walking into/out of the room and limiting the number of people in the room will all help in reducing, and keeping low, the ambient humidity.

Electric Furnace stopped running

You have one of two problems. Either the capacitor for the motor has failed or the motor has failed. I would turn off the power to the unit and see if you can locate the capacitor and remove it. An ac supply or electrical supply house can match up the capacitor. This is relatively inexpensive. Otherwise you will need a new motor.

Why can't I lower my honeywell 8500 below 67 on cool?

With a two story house you have to be aware that cold air flows downwards so any cold air coming from an ac unit will flow downstairs( normally down the stairway) so unless you can close off the down stairs then the up stairs unit will be cooling downstairs as well. Ac units have a thermostat located in the air intake and it cools until the cold air has risen to that point. In effect the space above the ac unit will be hotter than the floor. Knowing how they work ,you can see that the upstairs unit will never reach the set temperature because the cold air is continually heating from the house and will never get to the top thermostat.
So your solutions are
1-- fit controls that restrict the cold air from leaving the upper floor (Doors)
2--don't run the upper ac unit unless you are living up there (waste of money
)3 place an ac in each upper room and keep the room door closed
