I have a variation on the same problem. I ran the A/C for about 1/2 hour to cool the RV when I came home from work. Then turned everything off at the wall, but what I think must be the compressor kept cycling on and off. I don't know whether anything is "freezing up" because, as a senior female I can't get up on the roof to look. I hope to goodness it doesn't happen all night! My concern now, is to discover cause and bring in a techie to solve it...Here it goes on again, darn it...

    Thanks for any help.

I have a 15k DuoTherm ducted in the main area of my 5th wheel. When running the a/c it cools fine, but when the thermostat shuts it off, the compressor continues to run, making a humming sound. The only way to stop it is to shut off the breaker. It is a brand new unit, the old was doing the same thing, but was also freezing up with the fan running. I replaced the front a/c unit as well, due to a bad fan motor. I am in an area that was hit by Ike and Gustov so I ran off a generator for an extended period of time, I thought the possibility of low voltage/amps may have created these problems.

Do you have a wall mount thermostat? Thats what I would look towards first since its easy to get to. Don't let your compressor run with out the fan you can burn it up. I would just use the breaker as an on off switch intill you can get it looked at.

The relay board is exactly what the problem was, thanks "Guest" The 12vdc relays are normally closed and before I replaced the board I was getting a 6vdc to 7vdc reading on the (cool) leg at the thermostat with the breaker off.

there is a fuse located under the shroud on the roof AC on a circuit board that controls the thermostat to turn on the power to the Air Conditioner replace it it is marked F-1 or, on some F-2 etc.
the air conditioner works on both DC voltage for the thermostat and AC voltage for the compressor

Duo Therm A/C (2009 Sabre RV) won't shut off

bad compressor relay on control board. The relay is not opening the circuit, allowing the compressor to stay running when unit is turned off. This overheats the compressor and opens a thermal disk shutting the compressor off. When thermal disk cools down, the compressor restarts under load and trips breaker.

RV Dometic Duo Therm roof top AC w/heat pump Model #630515.321El Serial #21631212 Yr. 2003. It is the rear unit, front unit working fine. In AC mode it is blowing hot air as if the heat pump is on. Fan...

If the Air comeing out is the same as the temp inside the RV make sure the compressor is running and not just the fans. It could be low on freon. If freon is ok then you would need to ck the wiring to the selector switch for a short. It would be obviouse because there will be melted wires. I am leaning toword low on freon since you have already been inside the wiring/control unit.

Have a duo therm ac and the low ac and low fan not work -

Thermostat on wall, or manual controls at AC? Did it work for you on low before now? Reason I ask, is that normally they are only a 2 speed fan ( low and high) so if it's a wall thermostat and has been changed from original, perhaps it the way the thermostat is wired.

Penguin Duo therm AC bogs

Try replacing the wall thermostat with an electronic unit. It sounds like it is short cycling. If there is not at least 5 min delay before trying to restart the compressor this is what happens. Most electronic thermostats have a delay feature built in to solve this problem.

Duo-therm by dometic ac rv unit

I suspect that you have a bad selector switch for the on, off, low fan, high fan operation. If the selector switch is put into the off position everything should stop completely.
