Most printers don't come with a USB cable. You'll have to purchase one from someplace like Best Buy or Office Max. Just tell them th model number of you're printer and they'll get you the correct USB cable.

You can look up the user manual for your printer on the manufacturer's website (like Canonusa.com, or hp.com), by entering the model number of the printer in the Search box.

How to identify genuine and fake toner supplies?

When buying ink cartridges, first of all to carefully observe the vacuum bag. Authentic ink cartridges and bags close to the box dense, no air bag. Fake and shoddy ink cartridges vacuum pumping is not complete. Open the vacuum plastic bags, genuine ink cartridges should be clean and dirt-free. Carefully observe the top of the ink cartridges sealed plastic stickers, real ink cartridges sealed film flat paste, fake ink cartridges loose, it is easy to hand down. Second, look at the sealing tape. Genuine ink cartridges and fake ink cartridges are not the same, fake ink cartridges is a transparent adhesive on the word, strong sticky, it is easy to tear the surface of the packaging cartons. Genuine ink cartridges are strong texture, sticky and sticky can not be separated from the carton to tear the way. I always buy ink and toner cartridge online, and I found v4ink is the best compatible toner supplies with good quality and low price.

Hello Cliff, welcome to FixYa.

Hard Reset the printer by doing the following:
  • Remove all the ink cartridges.
  • While the printer in ON, unplugged the power cable from the power source.
  • Disconnect the USB cable at the back of the printer (if your printer is connected through a USB cable)
  • Restart your computer.
  • Connect back the USB cable.
  • Plug the power cable to its power source.
  • Turn ON the printer if it does not turn ON automatically.
  • Install the ink cartridges.
  • If the printer prompts for an print head alignment, please do so.

If the problem persists, replace the ink cartridge. The cartridge might be defective since you already have tried to clean the contacts.

Keep me posted.

I purchased a used hp psc950 printer. It did not have the manual with it. It is working, but a message was flashing in the window saying that I have the wrong color ink. I don't know the number to the ink...

you can use a USB printer cable to connect with PC.

If your black cartridge No. 45 then the color No. 78 OK

In your case the color cartridge may be defective,

Change it and try.

How do I install the printer cartrige? I do not have the booklet...

  1. Turn on your printer.

  2. Open the front cover.

The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy.

  1. Press the tabs on the cartridge lids, then lift the lids.

  1. Remove the old ink cartridges.

  1. Store the cartridges in an air-tight container or dispose of them properly.

  2. If you are installing new ink cartridges, remove the sticker and transparent tape from the back and bottom of each ink cartridge.

NOTE: You can use your printer with one cartridge (color or black) at a time. To extend the life of your color cartridge and improve printing speed, install both a color cartridge and a black cartridge at the same time.
  1. Insert the new ink cartridges. Make sure the color ink cartridge is secure in the left ink cartridge carrier and the black ink cartridge is secure in the right ink cartridge carrier.

  1. Snap each lid closed.

  1. Close the front cover. The front cover must be closed to start a print job.

  1. Open the Dell Printer Solution Center by clicking Start® Programs or All Programs® Dell Printers® Dell Photo Printer 720® Dell Printer Solution Center.

  2. Click the Maintenance tab.

  3. Click Install a new print cartridge.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Select the type of cartridge you installed.

NOTE: Specify whether the cartridge is a new cartridge or an old cartridge (one that has been used before). If an old cartridge is incorrectly identified as New Cartridge in the Dell Printer Solution Center, ink levels may be incorrect.
  1. Click Next.

IT WON'T PRINT DO i NEED A USB CABLE IF SO WERE DO i PLUG IT INTO ON PRINTER? THANK YOU ALSO DO i NEED A BLACK INK CARTRIDGE?

Hello Grannie,

You will need a printer USB cable to connect the printer to your computer. These cables a standard for all printers and look something like thispatzky.jpg.
You should find a square like opening on the back of the printer to connect the cable.

As for the ink cartridges, I believe lexmark only requires either a color cartridge or a black cartridge to be installed. Use one of the two and the printer should work.

Thanks,

Pat

I assume you don't have a user manual for the A960. You can download a copy at
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/a960/en/index.htm
The getting started pages have a picture of the back of your printer. The USB device end (smaller) plugs into the lower left socket (looking at the back of the printer) and the standard USB end of the cable plugs into any of the PC USB sockets.
For your ink cartridge problem, follow the steps in the manual for maintaining the ink cartridges. You may not have removed all of the packaging when your replaced the cartridges.
Let me know if this doesn't work.

MY PRINTER OMLY PRINT IN RED,

The black ink cartridge is empty or the cartridge mount or the cartridge itself is dirty and gummed over. Since you only have red then your color cartridge is probably almost empty.
