Have you been able to play other modern games on your laptop? I'm thinking the graphics card built into the laptop simply might not be powerful enough to handle the game, unfortunately.
That particular graphics chipset has been known to not perform too well on more demanding games, even Modern Warfare 2.
Some steps you might take would be to lower some of the settings in the game. Turn off anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing, anything you can lower to speed up gameplay. Adding RAM to your computer may also help, but I don't think you'll be able to get a completely fluid game out of that laptop sadly.
If your laptop will play the demo, it should play the full game. Just be aware that patches and updates to the game can affect performance so if your running the game on the lowest settings, it isn't advisable to get it. Looking at the graphics device in the NV55C it should run the game with no problems though.
The Pavillion dv4t comes with a choice of specs to meet your needs. As you haven't listed them I will list the Minimum that you will need to run the games, that way, you can check them against what you have and decide if you need to upgrade.
I will list for Sims 3. Even with the basic dv4t you will not need to upgrade to play Sims 2.
Running Vista SP1
CPU (processor speed) - 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 or Athlon 2400+ RAM (memory) - 2 GB Video Card (graphics) - 128 MB (Nvidia GeForce Go 6200, ATI Radeon Mobile 9600, or equivalent) Hard Drive (space for installation) - 6.5 GB and an extra 1.5 GB for custom content.
These are the minimum specs for running on a laptop.
Need more information on your laptop. Model Number, Processor, Memory Hard Drive. Have you Defrag the Hard drive, Clean Temps File, Clean free space, Derag Memory, Defrag Registry, Clean Registry. Tell me what you have done so far, to help determine whats needed in the future.
What is your operating system. ALSO most laptops do not support high graphic games like this (yes the sims is considered high graphics) You need to check minumum requirements on the box. If you have a Vista PC make sure the game is VISTA compatible.... some games even pc compatible sate that they will/may not work with laptops.... unfortunatly you can NOT change the graphic card on a laptop because it is saudered on the motherboard.
