My video game plays very slow

Have you been able to play other modern games on your laptop? I'm thinking the graphics card built into the laptop simply might not be powerful enough to handle the game, unfortunately.

That particular graphics chipset has been known to not perform too well on more demanding games, even Modern Warfare 2.

Some steps you might take would be to lower some of the settings in the game. Turn off anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing, anything you can lower to speed up gameplay. Adding RAM to your computer may also help, but I don't think you'll be able to get a completely fluid game out of that laptop sadly.

its not a big deal other than your graphics are not going to be as great if your pc supported the graphics that the game needs.

Will my Gateway NV55C play Sims 3

If your laptop will play the demo, it should play the full game. Just be aware that patches and updates to the game can affect performance so if your running the game on the lowest settings, it isn't advisable to get it.
Looking at the graphics device in the NV55C it should run the game with no problems though.

Hope this helps

Hi, know nothing about computers so please bear with me. I have bought two pc games and neither will play on my toshiba a300. No problem with playing all other cd/dvds, thanks.

It all depends on your graphics configuration. Most older pcs simply cant run the newer games as they are very demanding on the graphics cards these days.

Dear matthardy15,

1. Uninstall ATI Catalyst ( add & remove programs)
2. restart and try play again.

note: if its working, install other catalyst version (common problem for ATI Catalyst)

good luck

What can I safely upgrade to for gaming

0Hi there,

The Pavillion dv4t comes with a choice of specs to meet your needs. As you haven't listed them I will list the Minimum that you will need to run the games, that way, you can check them against what you have and decide if you need to upgrade.

I will list for Sims 3. Even with the basic dv4t you will not need to upgrade to play Sims 2.

Sims 3

Running Vista SP1

CPU (processor speed) - 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 or Athlon 2400+
RAM (memory) - 2 GB
Video Card (graphics) - 128 MB (Nvidia GeForce Go 6200, ATI Radeon Mobile 9600, or equivalent)
Hard Drive (space for installation) - 6.5 GB and an extra 1.5 GB for custom content.

These are the minimum specs for running on a laptop.

Hope that helps

Tim

The sims 2 and my laptop don't seem to be compatible.

Apparently if your graphics card is intergrated then it can cause problems because its shared and its not the same as a normal graphics card.

Also when you install more and more expansion packs the game gradually slows down possibly crashing.

What is your operating system. ALSO most laptops do not support high graphic games like this (yes the sims is considered high graphics) You need to check minumum requirements on the box. If you have a Vista PC make sure the game is VISTA compatible.... some games even pc compatible sate that they will/may not work with laptops.... unfortunatly you can NOT change the graphic card on a laptop because it is saudered on the motherboard.
