Hp 2010i monitor shaky, can't find degauss option

I don't think degaussing your monitor is going to help with this issue. Degaussing mainly addresses color correction around the monitor edges due to a magnetic field and applies to CRT monitors not LCD monitors which yours is. If by your term "shaky" you mean the image is unstable, then the problem is either in the main board which controls the X Y sync or with the power supply board. If you are knowledgeable with electronics you could probably repair this at home for $40 or less. If not then I would shop for another monitor to replace yours. Don't throw your old monitor away, instead post it for sale on craigslist. There are a lot of do it yourself type people who will buy this either for parts or to repair and resell. I don't know what it will bring as far as cash, might be $40 might be $5 but anything is better than zero.

Hi we have a compaq 7550 screen that when turned on has a red sheen over the whole screen. Any solutions or is it ready to throw away. thanks

You may try messing with the settings on the monitor. The menu buttons are usually on the front. Try to find something that deals with the color tones of the monitor. If messing with these settings doesn't fix your problem, then unfortunately, it is probably time to throw it out.

More likely to have power supply failure due to bad DC filter caps.

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed HP monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Common problems are due to bad caps (leaking/bulging top/bottom seal). Inspect that first.

The power button flashes between blue and yellow. The monitor screen stays black. I have the exact same monitor and switched it on to my other computer, and the computers are both working fine.

perrycdoq, Did you do flashlight test? Is your monitor also "blank"? Did you visit this old net blog? http:///www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution/ Do some reading there then come back and tell me if you think same thing might be wrong with your unit. Will you do the troubleshooting or contract out the work to qualified electronics technician to fix units "switch-mode-power-supply / inverter ballast circuit? 12fixlouie

HP MX 75 CRT monitor just quit working. No light on the on button.

...strictly as, at at best. a long shot: according to a post I just read somewhere online about this HP MX 75, pressing AND HOLDING the + button on the monitor front and at the same time turning the monitor on and off repeatedly, may fix problems with this monitor.
