If you are still under warranty immediately contact your local supplier in your area, but be aware that if you damaged the LCD (liquid crystal display) by accident it will not be covered by the warranty.

then you might need to replace this on your own expense, chances are lcd's are quite expensive sorry to hear that

First off, with most warranties, they will not cover user damage, such as the cracked screen. If they do, they are going to have you send it in for repair. So, most likely you will be without your laptop, until you get home, unless you can get a shipping address where you are. You will need to contact the service site in order to find out.

My screen works good as long as the lid is in a certain position

There's a good chance that the cable between the monitor and the body of the laptop is broken/cracked. This tends to happen after a lot of use.

On mine, I added an external monitor, grabbed all the data off the laptop that I wanted, and bought a new laptop. : (

If yours is still under warranty, you may be able to get it fixed. Otherwise the cost of replacement may not be worth it, since the price of laptops has come down SO much.

Trying to find out if I put a warranty on my netbook accidently stepped on it and cracked the screen

If your net book cover accidental warranty then you can replace your screen for free but if it not cover with accidental warranty then you know the answers.
In your case it is called mishandling and it does not come under any normal warranty.

Fell off a desk, Im using it right now but cant see on right third of screen. I can see the crack though.

I believe your monitor is broken. If you provide the make and when you purchased it I can see if it is still under manufacturer warranty.

Please leave feedback for this answer, thanks.

I dropped my lenovo x100e think pad and when i power up the screen is muti colored. the screen itself is not cracked.. can this be fixed?

    Hi shodo37,

Most of the time when you're getting multi colored screen after the machine was dropped is caused by a cracked LCD. But I understand that it's hard to believe that screen is broken if you're not seeing any physical crack on the outside. By going to BIOS it will help you determine if your screen is cracked. If you don't know how to go to there follow the steps below:

    >>> Turn on your PC, once it start up keep on tapping F2 button. You'll be routed on the page that has blue background. If on this page you'll still get multi colored screen then it's indeed broken screen. No crack on the outside but there's something needed to be checked inside.

Broken LCDs can only be fixed by replacing it with a new one. And if system is still under warranty you may contact Lenovo. They will offer you options to resolve the issue depending on what your warranty covers.

    Hope this will help you.

    Thank you for using Fixya.

Were in India (gurgaon)can i get my toshiba A Satellite Series screen repaired and what is the cost? The screen has cracked accidentally !

just fyi before you make any decision on laptop screen repairs.. we have found that the screen costs just as much a new laptop (that is if you have a cracked or broken screen). better off buying a new laptop.
this is only valid if the laptop is not under warranty. If it is under warranty best to check the Toshiba website for accredited repairers in your region/location.
    good luck hope this helps'

    Toshiba, broken screen

If the screen is physically broken (cracked) it's usually NOT covered under the warranty.

You can check your coverage HERE.

    Broken screen

im sorry to hear that there is no other way around it like what i said warranty can only be covered if it is a factory defect or by any chance the part was damaged by itself. im afraid you might need to send it to a repair shop, if you can i can show you how to do it by yourself but you need to buy the LCD

    take it easy

    Screen has cracked

The only way to see if the laptop is still under warranty is to contact Toshiba directly. They have a warranty information site online at: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_navShell.jsp?cf=su_wa_cent.html

Screen cracked and cannot taggle to seperate screen

Carefully examine the keyboard. These do vary from model to model but one key will have a screen symbol in another colour[blue perhaps] this will mean pressing another key to get the blue function The key to press may also have a blue element. Also get onto the Sony Technical Support team
