Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

Installing a printer

I've tried to install two different types of printers....the first was an hp 5600 & it wouldn't allow it. The second was a dell 922 printer/scanner/copier - it downloaded the program except for the photo printer which is what I needed the most.

I used the CD's which came with each program - the hp 5600 just said it was not compatible. The dell 922 installed each program except for the photo part of the install....this is the one I would probably use the most. I'm NOT real computer literate or I would try to figure it out.

How do I connect my DELL Inspiron 3521 laptop to the HP Photosmart D110 Printer? The laptop is not recognizing the Printer. Whenever we try to download printer software, it says "System Driver cannot...

First of all, what is your Operating System? XP? Windows 7? Windows 8? Are you connecting via Wireless or USB? Is your system 32-bit or 64-bit? If connecting via USB, try different USB ports on the laptop and a different USB cord just to be sure. If you can get into your laptops Device Manager you can go under Action and tell it to scan for hardware changes while the printer is attached to the laptop. Windows 7 & 8 usually have decent Plug and Play features and may pick up the driver.
Are you getting the driver from HP directly? If so, make sure you are matching the Operating system exactly (ex. Windows 8 64-bit/Windows 7 32-bit). You can discover your system type by right clicking on the Computer icon and going to properties. You may also want to try an HP Universal PCL 6 driver if the driver for the actual printer will not download. Save the driver to the desktop or a designated file within the C drive in case your temp folder is corrupt and run it from the local save.
There could be other issues, such as a 3rd party firewall blocking the driver or the Anti-Virus could be an issue as well.
I hope this helps!

I keep getting a pop up windows alert that a file called tray/app. msi is misssing, tries to load and asks for a source disc. What source disce am I looking for? It s a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows...

It may have to do with an HP Printer. If that's what you're using or previously had installed, go here...

http://www.ehow.com/how_5269744_remove-trayappmsi.html

Follow the instructions and you should be good to go. Otherwise, if you gave away an older HP Printer and installed a new one without removing/uninstalling the old HP Printer from the Control Panel, you could get the same error.

If that's the case, uninstall the older printer. Then hold down the Windows Logo button on the keyboard and press the R key once. A Run Command window will appear. Type in "%TEMP%" without the quote marks and hit enter. You will be looking at your Temp Files. Delete as many as the System will allow and then restart.

It can get a little complicated after that if the error message is still there and you might consider having an "advanced user" friend give you a hand.

I'nm trying to install an HP Officejet 4300 driver

  1. Remove your previous installation of that printer. Delete the printer icon in the Printer's folder if there exists.
  2. Reinstall the printer. During installation, choose Custom Install if there is an option like that.
  3. Then choose to install ONLY the printer DRIVERS and do not install the HP Software bundled with the printer. The HP Imaging software conflicts with screen resolution of some devices. Give it a try and see if you can use your printer installed that way.

Try installing the printer as a LPT Port or USB Port connection. Do not allow it search for any printers.
You can change port access later.
This is how I install my HP4050N Network printer.
ALSO, Is your network connection working properly?

Printer wont Print

Why did you need a printer to leave this message?

Look in printers and faxs and see if it is shown as 'online' or 'offline' if it is offline then unplug the usb lead, shut down the machine, unplug it, remove the battery, press the on button for a couple of seconds.

Now reconnect it all and boot up. Once up and running make sure the printer is turned OFF then plug the usb into a different port and turn it on. Windows will install it to that port. Now try it
