I have a HP Deskjet 3940 printer. And similarly to this problem here I had a paper jam that would not clear, despite removing all the paper that was stuck in it, and following all 4 steps stated on the HP website. Such as taking the back cover off and blowing dust away and turning it off and on, etc.

None of these steps worked for me and consequently I couldnt get any new jobs to print - kept saying 'paper jam'. I was about to head down the shop to buy a new printer when i tried one last thing, which HAS fixed the problem!

I put in a large stack of paper onto the feeder. and then pushed it forcefully in and out repeatedly. To my amazement this has solved the paper jam. As a very last resort, might be worth trying this?

I had the same problem and fixed using this steps:

1- Remove the paper and blow into the paper path for take our any paper or dirty residue.
2- Disconnect the Printer from the plug.
3- Restart the computer, before the screen turn on again put the paper back in a good organized stack.
4- Connect the Printer.

The Printer is suposed to print your qued documents, If the printer take two papers at the same time, take out the paper organize it again and repeat the first 4 steps.

You can open the printer and remove all paper in the paper path, make sure no residual paper is inside

I ended up trying everything including removing the cartridges and wiping them with facial tissue, opening the back and dusting the components, sliding the cartridge holder side to side, vigorously shaking the printer, force feeding a huge stack of papers through the printer with the back disconnected, but the last thing I tried (and I think the thing that worked) was resetting my computer with the printer off and unattached, and then removing the printer from the 'Printers' in the control panel, and then essentially reinstalling the drivers to the printer. I would recommend trying this before anything else because it is relatively fast, and you don't mess up any paper or facial tissue in the process (although shaking the printer is a fine workout :) )

Paper Jam Error on HP Printer

Paper Jam is the most common issue in all the HP Printers ( Officjet, Photosmart, Deskjet Printers )

What Causes a Paper Jam ?

  • Paper thickness.
  • Room temperature OR due to Dust in atmosphere or the room.
  • Paper pulled out in a hurry and paper pieces stuck in Rollers or Carriage
  • Could be Hardware Failure
NEVER PULL THE PAPER STUCK IN THE PRINTER FROM FRONT SIDE OF THE PRINTER ( unless the paper is 3/4th visible in front view if you open the printer front panel door )

Follow the instructions below to resolve Paper Jam issue.
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Open the rear access door ( or duplexer )
  3. Check for any bits of paper stuck, if so, remove them.
  4. Open the front access door where you see the cartridges.
  5. Check for any paper pieces, if so, remove them.
  6. Take a lint free cloth. Little bit Damp ( use water )
  7. Clean the Rear rollers pushing it upwards and close the door.
  8. Close the front access door.
  9. Connect the power cord and power on the printer.
  10. It should be ready to print/copy/scan/fax.
To clean the duplexer ( 2 - sided printing device ) remove the duplexer and clean the rollers you find inside.

If the above steps do not solve your problem, you printer needs repair. Contact HP. ( 1-800-474-6836 )

My printer is not print it show's paper jam but the paper is not jam

Hello thanks for using Fixya

Actually you are facing E3 error, E3 error is mostly because of paper jam. their may be small bit paper jam in side
There are some "micro-sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper, or a lump of dust, inside those sensors, thus "tripping" the sensor and saying you paper jam.

To solve it
Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder

If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then
Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.
If still problem exist then best & final option is to just contact to any HP service provider.

I hope this solution will helpful 4 u

I have a hp deskjet 3940 colour printer, there is paper jam error,so what i could do to solve the problem

Follow these steps :
1.1
Take out any paper that is not jammed. Remove the loose paper from the in and out paper trays to prevent any more paper from being pulled into the jam.
2.2
Open the cover of your HP laser printer. This will give you access to the inner machinery of the printer and should unveil the jammed paper. If you do not see jammed paper, you may have another type of malfunction.
3.3
Gently pull on the jammed paper. In many cases, it will come out easily.
4.4
Move the rotors on the inside of the printer by pressing the flashing button on the housing of the printer. This may help to loosen any jammed paper.
5.5
If the jam persists, unplug your HP printer. You'll be able to pull more firmly on the paper with the power turned off. Be careful not to rip the paper.
6.6
Attempt printing again. Refill the trays with paper and plug your printer back in to test its functionality.

Make sure you inserting the paper not deep inside just insert and stop it when you feel any resistance .and try to print something. If it is print then well otherwise you have to show it service center.

HP deskjet F380 - 'status: paper jam'. There is no paper jam!

Unplug the power cord and while doing that make sure printer is powered on i mean do not turn off the printer using the power button. When you unplug the power cord than press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Than release the power button and connect the power cord and then try to print.

Light blinking

Sounds like you have a paper jam somewhere. Open up the printer and look for some paper. If the page is still in the machine, sometimes you can gently pull ever so slowly and finish getting the paper out of the machine. Power cycle the machine and if it was a jam, you should be fine.

Paper jam

Carefully pull it out. Try not to rip the paper, because you may get some stuck inside. It may be necessary to open the printer up and even remove part of the cover to get it all out.
