I have a BESTMED, LLC. Golden, co 80401 KI-8160/INFRARED EAR THERMOMETER its supposed to switch somhow from celcius to farenheit and vise versa well my instructions are long gone and my daughter switched it somhow to celcius how do i switch it back???

If it is not to old try for a replacement. They are not calibrateable without the proper equipment.

turn it on and then hold both the mode and mem button it should toggle after a second or so

on the hand held unit there are 2 switched to the right and left one changes from F to C and the other is a volume switch.

Take your temp in Farenheit and subtract 32. Then take your answer and multiply by 9/5 or 1.8 and that gives you your answer. (farenheit -32) x 1.8 = Celcius

most thermometers have two buttons on and the take temperature, while its off hold the take temp. button for 10 to 15 seconds until it starts flashing Celsius or Fahrenheit when this happens use the take temp. button to choose either do not turn off the unit it will take a moment to set when it starts flashing again it is safe to turn off.

When the unit is off, press and hold the blue start button at the top of the unit. Then while still holding the start button, press and hold the ON/Memory button (you should now have both buttons pressed). The display will power on and you will see the setting toggle from celcius to fahrenheit. Repeat the entire process in order to toggle the setting back to celcius.

Are numbers being displayed at all? If you want to confirm whether they are wrong or not, try putting a thermometer inside the fridge for about 10 minutes and check it against the temperature displayed. If it's wrong then it's probably the temperature sensor and would need to be replaced.

I suppose it's a long shot but could it be displaying 18 and feels more like 65? (Celcius vs. Farenheit)
