Question about Washing Machines

Washer Drum Off Center

My boyfriend and I just bought this washer used. It is a Whirlpool Super Capacity Model Number LSR7010PQ1. As far as I know, when we looked at it it was fine. He and his friends moved it to our apt and I just went to use it for the first time. The drum is COMPLETELY off center. The rim is right under where the water comes out so the water started spraying everywhere and leaking over the side of the drum and pouring out of the bottom of the machine. I no have water all over the floor. I've tried pushing or moving the drum to center, but it just wont stay anywhere accept where it is. Could this be caused by the move? And how the heck do I fix it? Its just sitting down there with some water in it now because I stopped the cycle and didn't know what to do!

I highly doubt these were even used...We just bought it used off craigslist and took it out of someones house ourselves. Our friends who moved it Im sure were careful, but I dont know if anything happened when any of the construction workers of the previous oweners moved it from the laundry room to the driveway for us... Im afraid it was dropped or banged hard or something because there is also a scratch on it that wasnt there when we went to pay for it...

Hi,

To my knowledge most washers have transfer bolts or retainers that keeps the position of the drum firm while in storage or in transit. there would be 3 or four of them. Please verify that all the transfer bolts were removed.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Have a Whirlpool Super Capacity washer in which the drum will tilt during the wash cycle and spill water. If held to center, there is no leak, and the cycle completes without difficulty.

Could you tell me what the life expectancy for this washer might be and does it have a good track record. (Mom gave me one) Whirlpool Super Capacity Plus 7-Cycle 2-speed. 3.2 cu. ft

Just trying to find out drum capacity of my maytag heavy duty super capacity 7 cycle washer. Please help

Check the tag where you find the model and serial number, they often list it there. Your owners manual should tell you as well. You might have to call whirlpool (maytag), I cannot find the capacity listed on the tech info. Good luck.

Whirlpool Super Capacity Plus washer drum removal

What kind of residue? Grease? Sometimes a buildup of fabric softener will look like grease. If so, removing the agitator and inspecting it will show a buildup of fabric softener on underside. Rinse with hot water to remove. If you need to remove the inner drum, you will need a special tool for that. Try a local appliance parts business. They might loan or rent one, or sell you one. No filter to clean though. Grease should not be present as there is only the shaft of the transmission coming through a seal into the outer tub. Not likely to have grease migrate into tub. Fabric softener will be present on outer tub as well. Remove with hot water and plastic dish scrubber. Rinse and re-assemble washer.

WHAT IS THE LOAD CAPCITY SIZE OF WASHER MODEL 110.20702990

On newer, and sometimes a little newer, Whirlpool and Kenmore (Kenmore is made by Whirlpool) considers a few things in determing capacity. Most of the inner baskets are the same size, but they also add in agitator action into the mix. A Kenmore with an auger top agitator would have higher capacity than a Kenmore with just a normal agitator, even though it has the same sized drum. So a super capacity washer would have theoretically less CLEANING CAPACITY than a super capacity plus. The agitator action is actually what determines capacity on these models. So, with that in mind, cubic load should be about the same on both units. Sorry that I had to go into "Bill Nye The Washer Guy" mode, but thats about the only way to describe. Let me know if I can confuse you any more haha. Seriously though, if you need further help or info, write back, and will try to get you some other information. Remember, this theory only works on top load "normal people" washers, not the front loaders.
