They should still work but just won't be able to update and have the latest definitions. What brand of anti-stuff you using? Why can't you get online? Laptop or desktop? Wireless, LAN, or dial-up?

How do you turn on windows defender

Hi,

You can turn Windows Defender on or off from Control Panel > Windows Defender. If you have a program already monitoring for spyware then Windows Defender will turn off, this avoids any conflicts between the 2 programs, most anti-virus programs now come with a built in anti-spyware so when you install one of them Windows Defender turns off and you won't be able to turn it on again unless you either disable the anti-spyware part of the AV or uninstall the AV.

Tip

Learn the name of your anti-virus program

Its important to know the name of your anti-virus program, because on the web there are spyware pop ups that trick you to download their antivirus. I trust AVG, Avira, or Rising anti-virus programs. Avira is my favorite and I recommend you try that one.

I recommend running a few programs to make sure that you don't have a virus, spyware or adware hiding in your system. Avast is a free anti-virus tool that is very effective. Super-anti-spyware is great for getting rid of spyware, and Adaware is a great anti-adware tool --- both of these are also free. Try downloading these programs (all 3) and run them on your computer -- this will likely get your system running like normal. Once you have run these, run a disk cleanup and defragmenter to get everything into tip-top shape.

Hi, you can download this free spyware remover:

http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Select the free one.

Try also to install a better anti virus program
you can get a free one here:

http://free.avg.com/us-en/download-avg-anti-virus-free

Remove the old antivirus program before installation
of the new one.

When you have installed and run these to programs your
system is cleaned for virus and spyware.

Hope this will help you.

Firewall blocked ''bolivar 27 exe'' from installing.

Bolivar 25 is apparently a virus somehow relating to facebook, nothing showed up for Bolivar 27 in my research im guessing its along the same lines as 25 though, i recommend you run anti-virus software and/or anti-spyware.
Best free anti-virus (in my opinion) is: www.avast.com
Best free anti-spyware (once again in my opinion) is: www.spybot.com
Let me know if either of those solves your problem if it doesn't ill do some more research and try to find another solution.

Got a virus spyware

Hi clemsonfan1,

Hope you have a anti-virus and anti-spyware program. If so, run it and let it do it's thing. If not, you can download freeware programs and isntall it, run update, and scan.

Free version Bitdefender: http://www.bitdefender.com/media/html/trialpay.html

Free anti-spyware:
http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html?tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10861988

Free anti-spyware:
http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2008/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?cdlPid=10844457

MS Defender is also good:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=435bfce7-da2b-4a6a-afa4-f7f14e605a0d&displaylang=en

Definitely use the anti-virus program and any two of the anti-spyware program.

Good luck

2009 anti virus program keeps on poping on the computer screen. It's massing up my software.

Hi nhnvk,

Hope you have anti-virus and anti-spyware programs If so, boot your computer to "Safe" mode with networking. Update your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs. Then run the programs either one at a time or simultaneously (tip: run both programs twice). If this does not work, then the next best thing to do is to reformat your hard drive and re-install all your programs. Of course you'll need to back up all your pertinent files.

Good luck and thank you.

Monitor flashes

I had the same problem with the flashing screen. It turned out to be the anti virus - anti spyware software was somehow screwing with the harddrive files. I uninstalled the anti virus and spyware program and that stopped the flickering. Hope this helps.

My dell optiplex sx 270 restarts

Hello!

Here are other possible reasons why computer restart

-- Sometimes this can be caused by an overheating situation wherein some programs require a lot of processing power which can cause the processor or hard drive to get hot

--If you determine that overheating is not the problem, the most likely suspect is bad memory. Trying to access a bad spot in your system memory (RAM) can cause the computer to freak out and restart.

-- Make sure that the Automatically Restart in the System failure section is uncheck

--This can also be a virus or spyware problem. go through your Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs list and remove any programs you don't need, then run thorough anti-virus and anti-spyware scans.

-- Failing or under-rated power supplies can also cause your computer to restart at seemingly random intervals.
