I just waited a couple of days without touching it. This afternoon, I attempted to use it with the filter cap on and it worked. I then emptied out two large glasses of water and proceeded to replace the new filter. It IS WORKING!

Frigidaire FRS26LF8CS3 Side by Side, Freezer ice/cream melting, lower bin food side freezing

(There is a defrost heater on the evaporator in that area.If
you have a VOM you could check it with the power plug pulled out of the wall socket)

if you access the area turn the defrost timer on (clockwise)it should get warm in that area and you shoud hear a popping sound

A refrigerator without a water filter the water dispenser will not will not work am i right with that question?

Hi, W/D here.
The dispenser will actually work without a filter. I can remove my filter, and put on the temporary seal cap, and I get water!
Older versions of refrigerators were connected to water supplies without filters. What happened was that the water might taste "funny", or be discolored, but mostly, unfiltered water tended to kill ice makers. Nowadays, most refrigerators come with expensive filters. Lots of crafty folks put an in-line filter before the refrigerator to make their expensive filter last longer. The water tastes better too!
Best regards, --W/D--

Smell & bad taste of water from refrigerator dispenser

depending on the brand and the style, locate the filter and change it out. Please note that you must empty out the remaining water from the refrigerator cause if you don't, when you change out the filter you might get the same taste for a while until all the remaining water is replaced by freash water.
