Need to retrieve deleted email from

Visit Mail.yahoo.com and log in to your Yahoo! Mail account. Click on the folder marked "Trash" on the left-control panel. View the folder's contents to see if your message is inside. If it is, place a check next to the message and click "Move To>Inbox." This restores the deleted message. If it's not, continue to Step 2.
Visit the Yahoo! Deleted mail retrieval page (see Resources). Click on the appropriate link to retrieve your mail, depending on which version of Yahoo! Mail you use. For New Yahoo! Mail, select "New Yahoo! Mail." If you are using Yahoo! Mail Classic, click "Yahoo! Mail Classic."
Type your name into the entry box, and then type your Yahoo! Mail user name. Select the date and time that you would like to roll your inbox back to. For best results, select a date and time 24 hours prior to the current time; this will improve the chances of Yahoo! being able to recover your deleted mail.
Type in a short message to give to the Yahoo! Mail account specialist, if desired. This is optional. If you'd like to describe your situation, feel free to do so, although it will not improve the chances of the specialist recovering your deleted mail. Click "Submit." Yahoo! will get back with you as soon as possible. You'll receive an email regarding the results of the email recovery.

All Yahoo messages form my friends are sent automatically to Trash. I do not know what problem is. Please help me come up with a solution for this problem. Thank you.

You might find it useful to sort your message before selecting the ones you want to delete. For example, if you want to delete all the messages from a particular sender, first sort by sender. That way, all the messages from each person will appear together in the message list and you can easily find and delete the ones you want
You can also delete email by dragging selected messages straight to the Trash folder.

Didn't mean to delete that message? You can retrieve deleted messages from your Trash folder, as long as the trash hasn't been deleted yet. To retrieve a deleted message, select the Trash folder in the folders pane, select the message or messages you want to retrieve, and drag them to your Inbox or another folder.

I am tying to set up yahoo account on thunderbird. i can send email but not receive.. i have tried changing server settings and port settings

Much more common is a sending issue. Often you have to send through your ISP server, contact them for what that server is, if you have sending issues.

I found directions for Outlook, which should be similar to Thunderbird:

Look closely at requires authentication settings....

Note: You must be a Yahoo! Mail Plus user to read Yahoo! Mail in an email reader program such as Microsoft Outlook. Click here for information about subscribing to Yahoo! Mail Plus.
To read your Yahoo! Mail Plus using Microsoft Outlook 2002 or 2003, follow these steps:
  1. From the Tools menu, select Email Accounts.
  2. Select Add a new email account and click Next.
  3. Select POP3 and click Next.
  4. Enter the following information:
    • User Information

Your Name: Type your name as you'd like it to appear when you send an email message.

E-Mail Address: Type your Yahoo! Mail Plus email address (for example, [email protected]).
    • Server Information

Incoming mail server (POP3): Type plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com.

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Type plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
    • Login Information

User Name: Type your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").

      Password: Type your Yahoo! password.
    • Select the Remember Password checkbox if you don't want Outlook to prompt you for your password each time you check your mail.
    • Do not select the Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) checkbox.
  5. Click More Settings. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
  6. Select the Outgoing Server tab:
    • Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
    • Make sure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
  7. Click the Advanced tab:
    • Under Incoming Server (POP3), select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox. The number in the Incoming Server (POP3) field usually changes automatically from 110 to 995. If it doesn't, type 995.
    • In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) field, type 465. Under Outgoing Server (SMTP), select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox.
    • If you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Yahoo! Mail server and on your computer, select the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox. If you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! server once Outlook has downloaded them onto your computer, leave the box unchecked.

Note: After your messages are deleted from the server, we cannot retrieve them.
  8. Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
  9. Click Finish to close the Add New E-mail Account dialog box.
  10. Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.
Troubleshooting tips
If you still can't send Yahoo! Mail from Outlook, you might be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port. If this is the case, try using port 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. To make this change:
  1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings. The Account Settings dialog box appears.
  2. Select your Yahoo! Mail Plus account and click Properties. The Change E-mail Account dialog box appears.
  3. Click More Settings. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
  4. Click the Advanced tab.
  5. In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) box, type 587.
  6. Click Apply, and then click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
  7. Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.

check your trash folder in yahoo mail for deleted emails How to Retrieve Email When Deleted From Trash
When emails are deleted from a folder they usually go to the "Trash Bin" and can be restored to their original location. Emails erased from "Trash" are considered permanently deleted by all email programs. Unfortunately, there are neither general nor easy ways to retrieve emails deleted permanently. The usual strategy is to relay on a backup of the mailbox. Some web based mail services allow you to successfully retrieve deleted mailbox content because, for limited time, they keep backups. The Yahoo Mail can do a rollback of a mailbox to the time specified by the user.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions
  1. Step 1 Open the web browser and navigate to Yahoo Mail.
  2. Step 2 Login to the Yahoo account by providing Yahoo ID/password information.
  3. Step 3 Decide on the account rollback time that should be about 1 hour earlier than the incident time . Example: if a email was deleted from Trash at 5:15 p.m. choose the mailbox reset time for 4:15 p.m.
  4. Step 4 Save, print or forward to another account all messages received after the time selected in the step 3.
  5. Step 5 Open another instance of the web browser and navigate to the Yahoo! Mail Restore Help Form.
  6. Step 6 retrieve-email-deleted-trash-1.6-120x120.jpg jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('#jsArticleStep6 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a04/qt/n7/retrieve-email-deleted-trash-1.6-800X800.jpg'); }); Under "Mailbox recovery information" select Month, date and time (15-minute increments) chosen in the step 3. Make sure to fill out the time zone field and specify an alternative email account to receive a confirmation email.
  7. Step 7 Click "Submit" on the bottom of the page.
  8. Step 8 Continue monitoring the mailbox and keep backing up all incoming messages (see step 4).
  9. Step 9 The confirmation email from Yahoo mail customer care usually arrives in 6 to 8 hours and the mailbox should be restored as it was on or around the time entered in the step 6.

I accidentally deleted all my emails from my inbox (and then the trash) thinking I was deleting my sent ones - can anyone help?

It's possible, if it's been less than 24 hours since you deleted those emails to recover by filling out this form.

If using Classic:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/cl…

If using All-New:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya…

If more than 24 hours, and the Trash folder has been emptied, there would be no possible way to retrieve deleted emails.

Try to make a habit of NEVER emptying your Trash folder. The emails in that folder are deleted periodically by Yahoo!, so there's no reason for you to take that step.
