Have a GE GSS25QSTA Fridge and tonight, smelled weird smell coming from that and then making a sizzling noise?

Sounds like either your motherboard or compressor start relay may be having trouble. For a location Click Here=>

GSS25QSTASS Rear Section, Motherboard and Compressor Components

In this photo you will see location # 801 and 735. Part number for the 801 is=> WR55X10942 and part 735 is=> WR09X10107 Click Here for=> GE/Artica Technical Information and here for a=> Service Manual I will be here to see if the smell and sounds were coming from another location but if for some reason the refrigerator has stopped cooling I believe I am on to the problem. Please rate if correct or if you need assistance and advice on what to do to solve this completely let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Digitai temp display dead fridge makes clicking noise

This sounds as if you have lost the low voltage side of the motherboard. You can look over the motherboard by unplugging refrigerator and pulling away from the wall. In photo Here=> PDS22MFSACC GE Cabinet Parts You can see item number 801 in the photo that is the motherboard location. Look it over closely back and front while power is disconnected. You may just see burn marks. The motherboard part number=> WR55X10942 where there is no photo and here where I have a photo=> WR55X10942 in right sidebar half way down that page.

Couple things really are important are the tech sheet and wiring diagram
Here
.
I know yours is a bottom freezer but clicking on the wiring diagram opens into a new tab GE Service Manual. You can follow with me on that if you would like to do
it yourself. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

ER FF code

It's not an easy task to replace the fan motor, but the motherboard is rather easy. You can buy the parts at Sears. At least they can give you a part number and you may be able to locate one online cheaper. Good Luck, Mack

Kenmore elite refrigerator, model # 59676534500

I went ahead and signed up for Sears' service warranty since I knew I had to get someone to come out.  IT costs $200/yr.  They say it covers everything, but when the technician came out, he told me that it just covers $500 per visit.  He said that a new motherboard and the labor alone was going to make it $498.  Anyway,   he had ordered a new motherboard. Apparently the motherboard wasn't working.  It is located in the back bottom left side of the refrigerator behind the panel.  There is a compartment on the lefthand side that slides out and houses the motherboard.  He put that in and also had to fix the fan that is in the back of the freezer.  That fan is the one that sends cool air up to the refrigerator part. When I had looked at the fan before the repair man came, it was not moving at all.  So at least take a look at the fan in the freezer.  Just take out the freezer drawers, and the fan is located in the top center of the freezer behind the compartment cover.  Maybe that's the problem with your refrigerator, the fan.  Hope that's all it is. Good luck!

Digital display is blank in GE Profile fridge

Hi. Its either a bad motherboard or control board. I would check the control board for any obvious signs of damage to the board first. I've seen the control board go blank on the GE side by side and it turned out to be the motherboard. The motherboard is located behind a cover on the back of your refrigerator cabinet. You should have a new motherboard on hand at all times because they fail alot. Be sure to put a surge protector on your refrigerator. Good Luck, Mack

GE side by side problem

You will have to make some line and low voltage tests at the motherboard to diagnose this further. Start by removing axcess panel to motherboard on back of refrig. Locate 3 PIN blu connector on bottom of board. Wires are labeled Comp, Def, Line. Jump Line to Def At connector. Look at heater at bottom of evap coil for glowing red heat. If no heat heater is bad, if it does heat time to go to the next step!
