Question about Pioneer CDJ-800 Turntable

CDJ-800MK2 Problem HEy there. I came across your name on this board and was wondering if you could help me out. I have a Pioneed CDJ-800MK2 with a laser problem. It was not reading any CD's so I cracked it open, cleaned it, realigned it and now it will read store bought CD's but not burned CD's. I was hoping you could offer a solution other than send it out to the shop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jason Kew continuum_lx@yahoo.ca ORT Audio and Lighting (647)226-9318

Hmm, that's a tough one. Perhaps the DSP might be damaged, only allowing the retail CDs to read. There really is no reason why only some CDs read and other's dont other than damage to one of these components:

- Stepping Motor
- Servo DSP (IC101) <-- possible issue
- Traverse / Pick Up Assembly

Good luck!

Hum is generally associated with electrolytic capacitors. If the hum is on both channels it will be the power supply. Generally it will be the big ones there that are the cause.

Pioneer CDJ-800 screens went bank/dead, still played discs. Now it does neither.

when removeing top cover you will see the power supply on top right side faceing you.there are fuses on that board. Some of the fuses will look like transistors, however will only have two legs, check all. chances are you may have one or more bad.

You might have damage to the reader, and I can only suggest replacing the CD Traverse/Transport assembly.

From the video, it just looks like there might be some debris/dirt underneath the platter. There is a sensor pad under the platter, and if there is anything disrupting the pad, you'll have those issues.

Try opening her up, and cleaning her out. Or take her to a service center for a professional cleaning.

More than likely you have a damaged CD transport, or needs to be calibrated or professionally cleaned. I would suggest taking it to a service center.
