Question about Phones

1 Answer

I have a GE model 28213EE2-A Dect 6.0 with base and additional handset-no answering system. The handsets go out of registration all of the time. I have called Thomson/GE and I get a run-around. They say send it back and they'll send a new one out in 4-6 weeks, but the folks on the forums say the replacement phones have the same problem. HELP, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The handsets go out of registration but only when in the base station cradle.  Have relocated the base station to determine if there is an interference problem.

I thought it was interference too, so I tried moving the main base away from ANYTHING electrical and it did NOT help. The phone simply will not work and it is annoying! Does anyone have a solution?

This is the most annoying set of phones I have ever owned. I, too, have the problem of the phones not registering properly. I have changed the location of the base station and nothing seems to work. My advice to anyone out there doing product research is to not purchase this phone set. It looks to not be an isolated issue.

Identical problem, Identical Phone. I'll try moving the base station away from my iMAC.

We have the same phone set. It seems if we place it on the charger, it goes haywire. I am considering a hammer for the solution/satisfaction.

I have the GE phones also and same problem. This is the most annoying phone set I've ever owned. They are inoperable more than they work. My vote is for the HAMMER solution. Too bad I tossed my receipt and the box. DON'T buy these phones!

I've also had them replaced once and still have the same problem.

I have the G.E. 6.0 DECT model 28213EE2 also and the phone doesn't work more-so than it does.  This is annoying phone system.  It advertises "NO INTERFERENCE" , but in the manual, it says if the phone does not work properly, move the base station to another location.  We have done this a few times and this phone still has the following problems ( while connected directly to the wall) :  Phone does not ring all the time.  2. Push to get dial tone and get "beep-beep-beep" alarm and no dial-tone. 3.  cannot pick up the extension if someone is calling you from downstairs to "PICK UP!"  4. phone charges then acts as if it needs to be charged.  I don't recommend this phone system!

Handsets out of registration - and do nothing but beep - this phone system is like the flu - if you don't have it, stay away, if you do have it - get rid of it.

My cordless phone says "to register see owners manual for help" How do I get the phone working, it is a uniden DECT 6.0 Model DECT 1588-2

With the phone in standby, press MENU/SELECT on the base.
Move the cursor to select the Register Handset menu, and then press MENU/SELECT. Handset Registering will appear.
On the handset, press and hold # until the handset beeps and displays Handset Registering.
When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration Complete then show the handset ID number.
If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.
Note: If a handset has ever been registered to a base, reset the handset before you register it to a new base

Ge model 28213ee2-a 2nd handset doesnt ring when a call comes in

assuming all the settings are correct, and sometimes there's a tiny switch on the handset for ringer, that has to be on, try the 'page' feature [the button on the base to make the handset ring to find it] - if that doesn't work, there's a very good chance the ringer itself is bad. i've seen that many times.

One handset doesnt ring

There should be a ringer tone and volume control on the second handset. Sometimes there is a ringer on/off switch on the side of the handset.

If that doesn't work, then there is a possibility that the speaker is broken.

Just bought an additional handset for GE 27951 expandable 6.0 DECT Cordless. I press and hold the Page button for 5 seconds but the new handset will not register. Error keeps occurring "no base."

This exact thing happened to me. Same model number. No matter what I did, the new handsets would not register.

The solution? Reset the entire system:
1. On the BASE - Unplug from wall both power and phone line. Unplug battery from base handset.
2. ON the Extension phone - unplug from wall and unplug battery from handset.
3. Wait AT LEAST 5 minutes.
4. Plug back in BASE power.
5. Plug back in BASE phone line.
6. Plug back in EXTENSION handset battery. Don't plug in BASE handset yet.
7. Follow steps to program EXTENSION. When successful:
8. Plug back in BASE handset battery.

GE Model 27911 DECT 6.0 Additional Cordless Handset not working

I had the same problem. What worked for me, after several unsuccessful registration attempts, was to disconnect the phone handset battery for about 1 min and then reconnect the battery. Run the handset registration procedure again. It registered for me on the first attempt after the battery reinstall. Good luck.
