First perform a vinegar cycle wash in the dishwasher. Pour a cup of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher. Keep the temperature at the highest setting possible and perform a wash cycle. Then start using a dishwasher most probably that would solve the problem. If this does not solve the problem then there must be some parts worn out or faulty creating the problem.

There are many probable causes of failure .

To clean the dishes the water temperature is essential. It the water is not hot then the dishes will not be cleaned properly. So check the water temperature.

Also check the filter in your dishwasher.Clean the filter if there is accumulation of debris in the filter

If you are in an hard water zone , then try reducing the amount of detergent used and then try cleaning the dishes

I had the same problem and found out it was calcium deposited in the water so I bought a photonic water filter and this resolved the frosty film on my glasses and stopped the streaking when cleaning stainless steel. http://www.steelcleaner.com

My dishwasher seems to leave a film on my glasses and even the racks and area around the outside of the dishwasher have a film

Try different detergents--some do work better than others. Make sure the water is being heated properly. Good luck!

Dishes are no longer cleaned properly. They have a white milky film BUT if hard water is the problem, why were they coming out perfect for the past 8 years?

If the film is only on glass. wash the glass with a citrus cleaner, if they get clean then your glass ware may have been etched by your had water and the detergent from your dishwasher is staying in the etched glass.

If this is not the case, then your dishwasher might not be getting the proper volume of water, witch will decrease the pressure of the wash arm or your spray arm might be dirty.

White film on dishes, glasses and silverware.

white film is actually from the calcium and magnesium found in hard water. your dishwasher is fine. its the water leaving the residue and spots. go to www.dishwasherfilter.com . they have a new product out exactly for this reason. very affordable and works amazing. you will love it.

Glasses have milky film after running the dishwasher.

This "milky-like" film is hard water build up in your dishwasher that is depositing it back onto your dishes. To solve this you can get the product called Lemi-Shine at any store or on line. The first time you need to put about 2 heaping table spoons into the dishwasher with no dishes in it and run a normal cycle. Then load and put 1 table spoon in it for about 4 times and you will see the "milky-like" film go away. After that you will need to do a Lemi-Shine cleaning 1 a week. The Lemi-Shine has the directions on the container. I know this cause I use to have the same problem at my house and this works. Good luck. And thank you for the question.
