Here's a quick, easy and cheap solution to try: Get the VLC Media Player.

The newer dvd's often won't play on older machines. The easiest solution is to download and install the VLC Media Player. The VLC Media Player is an open source free player and can be downloaded here.

Often these kinds of problems are because of missing codecs or the type of security formatting on the DVD's one is trying to play.

Hope this solves the problem.

My laptop dell d610 dont have a cd/dvd+RW it cannot burn cd or dvd, i want to download cd/dvd+Rw to enable to burn

It sounds like the problem is your hardware, the current optical drive you have installed cannot burn disks, not matter what software you download you will not be able to do this without the correct hardware. You will need to buy a new drive that is Read/Write capable from a local computer store.

I have a dell vostro 1510 laptop and when I put a DVD or a CD in it,it does not read them at all. help me please!

First thing to do is go onto the start menu, and right click on computer, click on properties and look for the hardware tab. Click on device manager and look for DVD/CD rom drives. Click the plus sign next to that selection and see if you DVD drive is shown or if it has a question mark next to it.

If it is shown and you click on it, it will tell you if the device is working properly. If it is, then you may just need to obtain a DVD/CD cleaning disk. The lenses do get dirty, similar to a audio CD player, and need to be cleaned to read properly.

The only other thing you can do is make sure the device is seated properly into the laptop, but they are secured with a screw on the bottom of the laptop, so that does not often happen.

If the device is not working properly, right click on it and choose uninstall. Restart your computer and the device will be seen as new hardware and a driver installed by windows. If you need an updated driver, go to www.dell.com, choose support and put your service tag in to get all available drivers for your laptop.

Try these suggestions and see if that solves your problem.

If this solution was helpful, please remember to leave positive feedback for me.

Thank You,

Brian

My dvd driver dont work

Problems like this are rally common, in fact CD/DVD ROM hardware will die at any point of its usage. When experiencing problems like "no disc on drive X" or "Can't read contents on CD" or if you have a dual function CD/DVD-RW, one of its functions will stop working.
Most problems can be solved by uninstalling the hardware and reinstalling it or check for firmware updates but chances are that you need to replace it with a new one.
I had a SonyVio laptop for 5 years and I replace the driver three times.

Good luck.

Hi, I have an ASUS W1000 laptop and I am having problems with the CD/DVD drive. The computer can still read the hardware as I have uninstalled it and the restart automatically reinstalled the drive....

my Solution is to purchase an external dvd writer and use that as the internal onse dont last long as the heat from the laptop can cause problems to the connectors to the dvd burners.

hope this will help.

Dvd drive wont read dvd's

You state a problem here that is going to need a lot more info before a suggested fix could be provided. is this a new drive you added to your computer or a "factory installed" drive? If a new drive, did it come with "driver files" to be installed into Windows and did you install them? During installation, what questions were you asked and how did you answer them? By the way, my DVD drive shows up as a "CD Drive" in My Computer too, but it still reads & writes DVDs. Try right clicking on the drive in My Computer, click on "Properties" and then click on the "Hardware" tab. When the hardware screen opens, try clicking on "Troubleshoot" and follow the directions. This might work if you are in Windows XP.
