Inability to record any programme to my Ipod Nano 4GG

Equinux ID gfox49so... Some time ago , I managed to record a short episode from a BBC programme, using The Tube. Since then, no matter what I do, I have found it impossible to record anything at all. This is driving me nuts! Whenever I get to the "theoretical" end, this is what comes up on the screen
ACTIVITY
Storage not configured
No external configured for
media files and images. Please check....
I havn't got a clue what this means. Although I am 76 years old, I do not regard myself as being totally computer illiterate. Can you please help me with this problem? Ideally, I would really appreciate an email detailing exactly all the stages I need to go through. I am using an eMac computer using Mac OSX 10.4.11. I'm keeping my fingers and everything else crossed hoping you can help . Thanks a lot...Brian Woolard

Hello, Sorry to hear you are having problems,
So if I understand you correctly, you want to transfer videos to your iPod.
Well this is how you do it:
Everything goes through iTunes. Be sure you have the newest version of iTunes installed ( 8.1 )
Next step, be sure your iPod is synched with your Mac and your iTunes. you must not connect your iPod to any other mac as it might erase and sync to that mac.
Find the videos ( or programs ) you want and get them into your iTunes. you can do this by choosing ( Add to Library )
Then, once you have the videos in your iTunes, connect your iPod... you should see it appear in the iTunes window.
Now, click on the iTunes icon, you should be able to see all the options:
Here, you can see what my iPhone window looks like, it's the same as your iPod:
Inability to record any programme to my Ipod Nano - ea1460b.jpg

So you see the tabs, click on the Video Tab.
You should see all the videos you have previously imported into iTunes..
Go ahead and click the Sync Videos or Sync Movies, then be sure to NOT click sync all videos, you're iPod probably doesn't have enough room for all of your videos, unless they are very short...
Then, click the Sync button on the bottom right hand side of the window et voila, they should sync to your iPod

How to sync iMac with iPad?

The easiest way to sync a Mac with an iOS device like the iPad is to configure both to use iCloud for syncing.

Make sure you use the same Apple ID when you sign in to iCloud.

On your iPad, go to Settings -> iCloud. The "Account" line will show your Apple ID. From this screen you can also turn on syncing for contacts, calendars, etc.

On the Mac, go to System Preferences -> iCloud, Click the "Account Details" button to see what Apple ID you're using. If it's different from the iPad, then click Sign Out, then sign back in with the same Apple ID used on the iPad. Be sure to check the checkboxes next to the items you want to sync.

How to transfer iPod iPhone recorded video to Computer and YouTube

After the Christmas, you may get a new iPod Nano 5 Generation (with video camera). You took some funny videos with it and you want to transfer the recorded video to computer, edit the record video with Windows Movie Maker or upload them to YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, etc. It's easy to do that, and this guide will show you the detailed steps to make full use of the iPod recorded video.

Step1. In order to transfer the video computer, you have to enable iPod disk use at first. Plug in your iPod Nano to computer, run iTunes and select the iPod in the device list, go to the Summary tab. Then you will see the "Enable disk use", check it and click the Apply button. It's the same for Mac user to enable iPod disk use.

Step2. Because iTunes prevent you copying the non-purchased file from iPod to computer, you need an iPod transfer software to copy the iPod video, I have tried many iPod transfers, and this iPod transfer works best for the iPod Nano recorded video. I have scanned it with Norton Virus Protector, it's safe without any virus and spyware. Download and install it, connect your iPod to computer. Then run the iPod Transfer, it will search the iPod automatically; and all files on iPod will return in a list.

Step3. Choose the recorded video that you want to transfer, and click "Export" to begin the transfer; it can help you copy the recorded video to computer or iTunes, that's all. You can also use it to transfer music and photos from iPod to computer, it's really use when your computer crashed and you lost all the files.

Once you transfer the video from iPod to computer successfully. the iPod recorded video is H.264 video, and YouTube, MySpace, Facebook both support AVI and MPEG video. If you want to upload the recorded video to YouTube, Myspace or Facebook. You have to convert the video to the right format at first. I have tried many video converters, and this video converter works best for the iPod recorded video.

Download and install the video converter, then click "Open File" to import your iPod recorded video, click the profile to choose the "AVI – Audio Video Interleaved (.avi)", and then click “Convert”, it will take a few minutes to convert the video. And the converted video will save in C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorMy DocumentsCucusoftConverterOutput
Then you can log in YouTube and upload the video, done.
