I searched the specs of this motherboard and it doesn't have SATA port. Better change your hard drive with IDE. Otherwise, upgrade motherboard with SATA.

I'm afraid that this board does not support SATA drives.

From what I was able to find it looks like the board is set for IDE Interface connections for the hard drives. But you can make it accept SATA Drives by adapters that plug into the Power Supply cables that go into the hard drive.

I'll show some links below that will show you the adapters you will need.

The link below shows the Cable that would plug into one of the power supply cables and go into the SATA Drive to give it SATA Interface.

The link below shows you the cable you need that will supply the Power to the Sata Drive. It too plugs into one of the cables that come out of the Power Supply and goes into the Sata Drive.

We cannot seem to load win XP on DG43NB motherboard with SATA drives. Is there a way to do so?

The problem is that XPinstallation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on adisk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then,XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS anddisable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is aIDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows hasbeen installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver),then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

When I switch on my computer it will not activate the hard drive, but keeps on restarting. The red and green lights on the motherboard stay on.

try to change the pin at the back of your hard drive, place it into master if it doesnt work move it to slave, and if doesnt work again. , change your sata or ide cord, and if doesnt work defenitly, your hard drive have a problem.Try to buy a new hard drive . .
and your power led is not a problem with that. .:)

My computer stopped working some time ago, and I was pretty much certain my hard disk had died (SATA), so I bought a new Hard drive (SATA) and booted my computer....the bios didn't detect the hard drive,...

ONE BAD LEAD?

try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive one bad lead will cause a computer to shut down

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?

hope this helps

I wish to change my hard drive from ide to sata

SATA plugs are eith red or black. Usually grouped in four. They are plastic about 3/4 inch long and a 1/4 inch wide. I looked up your motherboard and the SATA connectors are actually blue. Located to the right of the green connectors.

Sometimes it boots to my SATA hard drive, sometimes it doesnt

Dear friend you i think you have to operating system in to hard drive.. Please... format the IDE hard drive... if IDE hard drive is Primary hard drive then go to the BIOS, In BIOS go Boot Sequence you may see there Hard disk Priority option.. Let set Sata hard drive as first one.. Then your computer Boot from sata Harddrive... thanks...

Please do this first.. Set sata as first hard Drive from BIOS Hard disk Priority Option.. then Format IDE Hard drive..

Thanks Sumon.. i think it will solve your problem..
