Invoices show as paid after saved??

Hi,
i don't know what to do. when i go to save my invoices in quickbooks pro 2002 it automatically puts a big paid word across the top of the page and if i have to modify it or print it out it has paid on it and it isn't because i just entered it 2 seconds ago. quickbooks won't help because the product is too old for them but they will let me upgrade. but there is nothing else wrong with the program so i do not see a need to upgrade. we are a very small company and really can't afford it.
please help. i have been trying to solve this one for over 6 months.
Thanks so much for your time

Open Quickbooks.
Go to Edit>Preferences, in the new window, in the left hand column scroll down to Sales and Customers.
Select Company Preferences, make sure at the bottom of the window the box "Automaticaly Apply Payments" is not checked (no tick or cross in the box)

It has been a long time since I used Quickbooks regularly.

I have been asked by a friend to research a tax problem with Quickbooks, keep an eye on this thread and I will post back if i find a solution to your problem elsewhere.

Go 'Lists' and then open 'Templates', double click on the product invoice and make sure the invoice is 'Active'.
Qbooks saves printer settings for each feature, regardless of which is set as 'default' in Windows...be sure you have the correct printer selected.
If the above are set correctly, go to HP's website and download the latest driver for your printer.

If you had a power outage, or quickbooks locked up, you will get that notice. The good thing about Quickbooks is that is save on each saved transaction. For example you have entered payments and invoices, you are in the middle of entering a bill when the computer shuts down. The only thing that would not be in you file is the bill that you were entering but hadn't saved. If you continue to get this message, let me know and we will trouble shoot it further

What you are looking for is memorized transactions. Double click on each item that you want to recur on a regular basis, click on edit, click on memorize, go throught the window setting up frequency etc, save and close.

How do i get a customers old unpaid invoice to show up automaticaly on his new invoice?

Under Creat Statements, change your "Statement Period" dates to include last months invoices for the rent. Once you have don that, and picked your customer to send the invoice to, then click on preview. This should show you the statement and should have the right charges on it if they were invoiced.

If this helps, please rate me. Thanks, Patty
