I bought this printer in China before returning to the US. Unfortunately, the manual is all in Chinese, which I am still unable to understand.... Can you help? A translation of the buttons on the operating panel would in fact already be quite helpful.

When you plugged in the printer and hit the power button the very first thing to come up on the display is language selection. If that didn't happen then you need to call 1-800-OK-CANON and ask them how to set your printer back to factory defaults.
The first thing I would do is check if there is any small fragments of paper in the printer. If you still cannot see anything, try getting some compressed air and blown the printer out. If that still dose not fix it, you might have a faulty paper sensor. If the printer is in warrenty, I would try and do a warrenty claim.
