I reset the touchpad to suit my personal tastes.
However whenever I turn my computer off and restart, all the touchpad properties are rest to default.

I have a vostro 1400 and suffer the same problem. I set the touchpad to my liking and these settings are lost even when I "hibernate" my laptop. Very frustrating to have to reset the snail pace touchpad to something a bit quicker everytime I turn my otherwise very robust machine on.
