Question about Video Cameras
Thanks for the suggestion. I have checked the batteries and they are giving 8v +/- .01v steady with no load. I have tried a new battery from another camera and get the same fault.
We checked the start-up with another camera and the difference is that mine seems to wind the tape for much longer, then the fault shows up. If I switch on to Manual Record, and immediately press the Menu button, I get the menu to show until the tape winding completes then the fault shows. It does not give me time to get to the camera reset command.
If I set it to the switch to Still, ie through the memory card, I can get to the camera reset which then allows me to take still pics but I again get the fault showing on the video setting.
Is there another way to get into the software on this camera?
Appreciate the "Ask Me". With your indulgence, I would be reposting this in your original problem/post here.
Bear with me on this one, the battery. Your post, "wind the tape for much longer" (all other things being equal) would indicate a comparatively weak power source (the battery). Assuming that the battery is not weak, then the problem may lie on how the power of the battery is transferred to the camera.
Here is a test, try the camera with the AC adapter (with or without the battery). If problem persists, then it is internal to the camera, if it works and you could perform the reset, then it is a battery issue.
As earlier stated battery issues need not be the battery itself, it maybe how the battery transfers power to the camera. Check the terminals of the camera where the battery contacts. Clean or scrape and when you try the battery, apply manual pressure (press on the battery) to add force to the contact. See if problem persist.
Software (firmware) update - I am not aware of any updates for your particular model GR-DX67EK, however pls try here.
Again, good luck and would appreciate an update at your convenience.
