Http://192.168.1.1 is not working anymore

Hi,

Looks like a Default Gateway to me. You must be trying to access your router's configuration. If it does not work then we have some factors to consider. The default gateway must have changed from 192.168.1.1 to something else or there is no connection to the router.

Let's try these steps here:
>click on START
>on the search bar type CMD; hit ENTER
>on the command prompt window (black window) type IPCONFIG
>look for the default gateway and use that to access the modem/router
>by then you'll know whether the computer and the router are still communicating
>however, if you fail to get the default gateway due to an error like A NETWORK CABLE IS UNPLUGGED; contact your service provider for the router's reconfiguration

I hope it helped you out. Rating my assistance will greatly be appreciated. Should you have any followup questions feel free to post it here and I always get back to my resolutions. Thank you for choosing FixYa! Have a good one.

I want to change from a bt voyager 105, to a bt home hub how easy / hard to do I am not really computor minded. telboy..

It is not hard just you need to reconfigure your router WAN settings.
You need to configure your router.
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Click on WAN settings and set those settings as your internet service provider settings.
Enable DHCP if you want to get ip from router.
Click on wireless settings enable wireless then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It isyour password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Cant find security settings for voyager 210 router

You want to secure the wireless network.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable.
Check the IP address on the computer. Open the router set up page.
Once you open the set up page, you will find the option to make it secured

I have an iPod Touch and I have been trying hopelssly to connect to the wifi. I have a BT Voyager 2110 router. I have been putting in the right password and it even says I am connected as it has a tick...

Well... since you said PLEASE help!

So what is the IP Address that the iPod Touch gets? Does it match with what range the BT gives out?

Does anything else connect through that router successfully?

You might try changing the WEP, WPA, WPA2 that you are using ... see if that helps the iPod touch to connect. I've seen where certain computers, etc. do not like WPA or WPA2 or certain passwords or key codes.

Trying to configue a 3com router as an access point

You have to configure the WDS on the 3comm, configuring it to the MAC ADRESS of the BT router (if it is wireless), if not connect it by ethernet and set the 3comm as WDS allowing the other 3 more u want to add as acepted MAC ADRESS for access points.

2 things you can try:-

1. make sure you enter the subnet mask and the gateway on the xbox
You can get these values on a connected computer

2. Try connecting to the Netgear and changing the channel if in UK try channel 4 or 7

Securing a wireless connection

To secure your wireless connection, do you mean by
1. Encryption using WEP or WAP
2. MAC address filtering on your wireless card
3. Disabling SSID broadcast.
If so you need to configure your wireless settings using Internet Explorer, the URL would be http://192.168.2.1 (check the config. TCP/IP address in your manual)

Connecting to broadband

Hi there,

I can understand this. I am on Vista also and my wired router works perfectly however I have so far tried a BT Voyager router and a D-Link router and am unable to get either to work. I am about to try a Netgear router as I know someone running Vista with this type of router without any problems. Just for your info. Good luck.
