I can't get my Geforce 6150 to output to the TV via s-video

Hi There,

I'm trying to get my laptop to output movies to my television but I can't enable the second screen on my laptop and can't find any information about how configure the graphics card.

I have updated the drivers and solved the initial problem of the "extend my desktop .." not being available for the second display but now I can select this tick-box I can't get the box to stay ticked.

Any ideas??

Thanks

There is an Fn key on most laptops that allow you to output the monitor to another screen also.

There is also a combination like F + 4 for some laptops. Make sure also that you have the correct cable plugged into the port on the laptop videocard.

How to watch movie from computer to tv

The easiest way to get your movies onto your TV may be to directly plug your computer into your set. Many computers come with video boards that output via S-Video, DVI (digital video interface) or even HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface). If your television has an input that matches your computer's video output, then you can simply plug one into the other and enable your television as a second display through Windows Control Panel or, on a Mac, System Preferences. Moving your PC within cable's length of your television isn't always convenient, however.

No video in onboard plugin

If the motherboard has an onboard VGA output - try that. But first remove the plugin video card from the computer and then check the onboard VGA output.

What channel do i go to for svideo cable??

The TV doesn't output the TV as such, UNLESS it has what is called a "Monitor" Output Sockets on it. Then you can connect up to, say another "Screen" or Take the Outgoing Video, & Sound, and "Record" it to a PC, via a Video INPUT via a TV/Video INPUT card. BUT you cannot play the TV on the laptop, FROM the TV. like you wish to do. If your laptop has a TV card INSIDE your laptop, then you could use that and display the OUTPUT from that TV cards' tuner, on the TV. But not the "other" way around. That SVHS is ONLY an INPUT out from your PC. You can put you system into either "Cloned"mode, IE: Whats displayed on laptop screen,is also displayed on the TV, Or, you can have as you seem to now, Extended Desktop. I hope this clears things up for you. Also when using that SVHS connection the Audio comes OUT on the Red & White AV sockets on the set. So you need that cable and another pair for the Audio..

I have an IBM T40 Laptop and I wanted to display my video to the television screen via the SV output. When I hook everything up, all I see on the television is the Windows Desktop background, no icons etc....

You set it to Multiple Monitors (if you move the mouse, you will probably be able to see it on the TV once it "goes out" of the laptop desktop). You need to change output mode to external S-Video.

First of all try hitting Fn + F7 key to switch to Ext-S-Video. If it works, that's it, of course. If it doesn't, TV output is not enabled.

Right-click on the desktop to bring up the Properties, go to Settings. You'll see two monitor images there, 1 and 2.

Click Advanced, then go to Displays. You'll get CRT, TV and LCD. Turn on the TV button and tune your settings.

At this point, the hotkey Fn + F7 is enabled to cycle between LCD and TV.

If it still doesn't work and you see the blank desktop, go again in Display Properties, choose LCD as Primary Display, select Secondary, and verify that "Extend desktop on this display" is NOT checked.

Adding a dvi to hp s3713w

Hi,
Seems that u want to watch the movies on your TV, fo which there are many VGA to DVI converters out there in the market, one is http://www.pacificcable.com/More_Pages/DVI/VGA-To-DVI-Converter.html
Also it might be cheaper to use a VGA to component out converter as almost all TV's have a component in, and in any case with a GeForce 6150 u are not going to get great output :-(

Driver

Even though it is a Nvidia GeForce card, you want to use the HP drivers. Laptop video cards are set up a little different then desktop video cards.
Here's the link to that drive page.

Connecting my pc to my tv

verify the settings for your monitor are correct. with a video card that supports an HDMI output you should be able to go into your display properties (maybe advanced properties) and either force the TV detection or force the HDMI output to be enabled so it's displaying on your PC and your TV simultaniously. I know with N Vidia GeForce video cards you can do this and with most major brands it should work similarly.

Boot error / No video out

Ajit,

The beeps are usually due to RAM or key board issues.

I would try by plugging it into a VGA socket of a monitor to see if it works.

Do you have heat problems? one suggestion is to try and reset the bios to default by moving the jumper on the mobo to do a hard reset.

good luck

Smeags.
