Hello depending on what sort of transmissions you are listening to all should be set to NFM ,cb radio will be set at AM ,radio stations WFM so check the mode you are using this could be your problem

The manual says that the stereo microphones are either side at the rear of the flash. Make sure nothing is near them. It also says that it can be affected if the flash is raised. It sounds like a firmware issue, and it is a pity there is no external mic jack socket.
Hello, Please download Instruction Manual of DAV-DZ260 from Sony Support and go to page 25 and select appropriate sound option. The disc in player doesn't match with current sound selection thats why you hear muffled sound. Thank you.
It's an audio setting you will need to change. some movies are decoded in dolby and some by dts. This means you will have to adjust accordingly depending upon the source of audio in the movie. a double d is dolby's trademark and dts is regesterted trademark for the company "digital theater sound." The icons are on the dvd usually. Anyways, find the set up button on the remote control and use the directional arrow keys on the remote; up, down, left, or right to adjust for best sound. the thc5 will have the most function on the surround settings, movie, music, and all st. try a sequence, than repeat until desired sound is heard... good luck
