Cant leave laptop cause screen wont come back on

When i leave my laptop for about 5 minutes and then come back to it, it wont let me start it up again. I press space bar, move mouse and press power button for a few seconds but just a black screen. I know it is doing something because i hear sounds when email has arrived and power button is green. But screen just wont come back on. I have to shut down the computer. Does anyone know the answer to this? Its an acer TravelMate 4520.

Right click on the desktop and click on personalize in vista. Click on screen saver and set it to a more reasonable time like 120 minutes. From there you can also enter into the power settings and specify the system to prevent allowing hibernate and sleep mode.

In xp go to control panel and make the necessary similar changes. Just setting the screen saver to a reasonable time such as 180 minutes alone should solve this problem for you. If this helps you please take the time to rate it fixya.

Hi,

It would seem that for some reason, the display would not activate again after going to standby. This would involve checking the inverter circuitry that powers the CCF lamps (backlight).

A possible temporary workaround is to disable/deactivate the "Turn off monitor" feature in your laptop's Power Scheme.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

    Further to your concern, you may want to check on any updates for your laptop's:
    bios;
    video driver;
    power management (including hibernation).

    In certain instances, it may be simpler to disable hibernation, Advance Power Management, and all other power saving schemes altogether and just use a screen saver.

    All of the previous posting could be activated/deactivated by doing a right click on any free space of your desktop and clicking on "Display Properties" and clicking on the "Screen Saver" tab, Power button. Alternately, you can also go to your Control Panel, Power Options, Power Scheme tab. Select "Never" on the "Turn off Monitor" and in the Hibernation tab, uncheck "Enable hibernation".

    Cheers.

I plugged for the first time my laptop on to the VGA input tv screen showed a sign that read something like: no signal, tv will turn off. then it switched off and now it wont turn on on the on/off switch...

There is a button on your laptop for switching from laptop screen to external screen, This button is usually in the top row of special function buttons, did you press that as it will tell your computer you are connected to another monitor. Also some times you have to leave the monitor off for about 5 minutes so it will reset itself.

Easynote r1004 wont power on

The battery is too low and the power supply can't charge the battery and also power the laptop at the same time.

Try this:
1. Remove the battery from the laptop
2. Plug in the power cord and turn ON the laptop.
3. It should work ok.
4. After the laptop is "stable" (what 5 minutes?), you can put the battery back into the laptop while it is ON.
5. Leave the laptop ON so the battery can get charged.
6. Lower / close the lid so that the screen will turn OFFand not take up power from recharging the battery.

If this doesn't work for you, try these steps again, maybe wait a few minutes between steps.

This WILL work!

Hope this helps!

It wont start up, push the power button and screen doesnt come on

Hello,

Please plug also the power cord to the power source then wait for 10 - 20 minutes to charge the battery of your laptop then after the said time given above please turn on the laptop and see if your laptop is working now. Else if it is not then try to contact computer technician and let that person check the problem of your laptop Most of the problem causes of software and hardware.
