Im missing what plugs into p3 and p4 what is it i am missing

I would need more information on your PC but this is what I think you're talking about:

You should have two cables connected to the CD\DVD drive and the hard drive. One of these cables is the data cable and the other would be the power cable. The data cable would be a smaller cable connecting to the hard drive and to one of the Sata ports on the motherboard while the power cable would come from the power supply and connect to the Sata hard drive.

This would be the same for the CD\DVD drive. This only applies if these are Sata drives and not the older IDE drives.

The Sata connectors have a L shape design on one end so they cannot be inserted in the wrong polarity.

You may not need all the power cables coming from the power supply as some may be for any added drives that you may not have.

If the power cable is disconnected from the hard drive, the system would not boot. You might want to check the memory modules also, to make sure you have them inserted in the slots completely.

Q- how to rewire hard drive power cord

unless you know what you are doing, just buy another power supply
or, google "pc molex plug" and order a new on with pins, but you'll need a crimp tool for that job.
if you get it wrong, you WILL blow stuff up.

My PC when plugged in does not turn on but only powers the fan

Is there beeps coming from inside the tower case? Does the Hard Drive make a spinning sound after about 15 to 20 seconds? It could be a mother board issue, it could be a graphics card issue.

Dell demension 4600c power light ok, hard drive light not on

sounds like hard drive dead or your boot files corrupted and your hard drive has no input power. could be power unit weak or your hard drive could have died..they do wear out.
do you hear any fans spinning? there are fans to keep your pc cool. one big one for chasis and one small on over processor chip(heatsink). if the smaller fan(especially) does not spin then PC will not boot because chip will heat up and break if no fan. system will protect itself from this by not starting. open chasis and check if small fan is working. if not this is cheap fix. if it spins then hard drive or graphics card may be bad, which gets more expensive. shop will charge average of $75 dollars to analyze-just to tell you what is wrong, not to fix it.

Led's only work one way, so it does'nt matter what colours they are. The led's that they connect to will only work when the plug is the correct way. You wont do any harm if they are wrong, you just turn them round. Plug them in one way and if the led for the hard drive does'nt come on then it's the other way. Same with the power light. The power switch when pressed just makes a momentary connection across 2 pins, so it does'nt matter which way, it's just like touching the pins quickly with a piece of metal.

Trying to change out power supply on a Gateway DX4822-01. Can hear hard drive spinning, but not getting anything on screen. Unplugged it yesterday. Now wondering if one of the 4-pin needs top be...

Trying the easiest solution first - It sounds as if the power is getting to the hard drive, but the information is not getting to the computer.

Is the IDE/SATA cable attached to the hard drive AND the motherboard?

Are the connections tight?

Is one end of the cable reversed - does pin 1 on the hard drive correspond to pin 1 on the motherboard?

Are the jumper settings on the hard drive set properly - Master/Slave/Cable select?

Are you replacing an IDE hard drive (uses a wide thin ribbon cable) with a SATA drive (uses a narrow, fatter cable). Can your motherboard handle a SATA drive? Perhaps you are trying to install the incorrect hard drive?

My CPU is saying "operating system not found on any devices." I have a compaq XP2000 and a reboot for XP2000 CD that's not working. Why? what am I doing wrong?

Hi,

appears that your hard-Drive has developed A Fault.
if you feel competant, to attempt this then do so.
start the computer, and enter The Bios settup. usually F2/esc Or del at startup. Once in the Bios, scroll across the pages or locate Boot device list. what you need to do, is change the device priority, so that the computer searches the CD/DVD Rom drive first, with your CD Inserted.
after you,ve changed the boot priority, save and exit to cmos.
Option 2. remove the side panel ( And mains Power lead )
locate The CMOS battery, round silver Battery, from the Motherboard for 10 seconds, replace the battery, side panel, power lead. And restart The Computer.

No monitor signal and hard drive not spinning? (eMachines T3025)

wiring diagram? Usually you just plug in the 4 pin molex connector. If its not spinning the HDD is damaged and needs to be replaced.

Also I can tell you the Wires are Yellow=12v Black=ground RED=5v and orange=3.3v
