Replaced 40 black on my MX300 machine but the alarm light will not shut off

Shut machine off and restarted to no avail

You may have to reset it.
Turn it off and remove the power cable.
Hold the power button, and put the cable back in while doing so.
While holding the power button, press "cancel"
Now release and wait until it says "idle"
Press the "next" button, and press okay once it says shipping mode 3
Press OK to select "without cleaning"
Let the test page print
Open the cover and disconnect it(without switching the printer off)
Take out all the cartridges
Close it
Reconnect
turn it on
and put the cartridges back in

Then you may have hardware damage. There is a possibility of bad software, but... Either way, i would call canon if i were you. sorry i couldn't be of further assistance.

Canon mx300 ink absorber full

my canon mx300 printer box flags that the ink absorber is full and the yellow alarm light comes on. i press o.k. and i can continue to print without a problem. can anyone suggest how i address the ink absorber - replaceable, cleanable, etc.?

I used a refill kit for the canon MX300 and now it won't let me print. It says it doesn't recognize the color cartridge. I've tried to re-set it, but the alarm light keeps coming on. Help!

Did you turn off the printer and unplug it and then turn it back on?

Alarm light is on. does not print

Those cartridges can't be reset yet, once they are empty, the little circuit board says they are used up and you have to replace them.

I think there is a backlog of faxes in the memory. The fax line rings but nothing comes in. The memory light is always on. How do I retrieve any faxes stored in memory?

I just replaced both ink cartridges and the alarm light is now on. The LCD screen reads check ink, U053, BLK COL. I can't get the printer to work or perform any functions.

On the canon MX300, holding the "reset" button down for about 10 seconds will extinguish the alarm light & should normalize all functions. The ink level will still indicate "low" , just ignore it.

MX300 alarm

You might try a hard reset of printer along with uninstalling and reinstalling the software for the printer.
If nada, you might give Canon a call and ask their techies for their feedback on situation.

Override alarm for color ink cartridge

Hi Redtail,

Try the following. It will not disable the alarm but will reset the in counter.

Power off the printer
Hold the stop/reset button then press and hold power (for 5 secs)
Hold Power and release the stop/reset button
Press the stop/reset button twice
Release power button
Wait until the power button lights a steady/still green, press the stop/reset button three times with a 3 sec space between each press.
On the 3rd press the inicator should be orange.
Press the power button to set data
To set data remove cartridges then replace.
leave for 20 or 30 secs
Press the power button again to shut down
Then press power button to power up.
The printer will feed one piece of paper through
then set language and counrty.
Then ink should be reset
