Ares ultra wont connect

I just bout a laptop with window vista and ares ultra will not connect. I have turned off all my firewalls and still nothing, I am confused cause I have another laptop that is window vista and it works on that one. Please help I have done purchased this ares ultra and dont want to have to buy another one.

    I have the same issues with Ares ultra. I bought it because I have azune and no other download software wil allow me to transfer to my zune. i am also using Vista and a new laptop. it worked for 3 weeks and then stopped connecting?

    I just bought the ares ultra 4.1.0 and downloaded to my laptop and when I try to search for music it neven finds any music , it has a message that is connecting but that's it , no music is found.

Check firewall settings in vista, might need to create exemptions to allow access. Check Antivirus settings in vista, might need to create exemptions. Quick test is to switch off both antivirus and firewall in order to establish connection. Also check if there is a newer wifi driver for your laptop.

Remote Assistance Firewall Issues
Use Crossloop. Each session is encrypted and doesn't require turning off firewalls in your routers. You will have to give it permission to run in Vista and XP, but it works and I've used it many times.

If this is what you're already using, go to their help page to resolve the problem.

Why not use the firewall that comes with Vista. I've tried others and with Vista it seems far easier to use the original. Whay can't you change anything?

Vista Laptop cannot connect to XP users
go to control panel>>add and remove prgrams>>click on add/reomve windows components on the left panel.
make sure you have the system CD.
put a check mark in "networking services" and "other network files and print services" install the addtional services.
check the share volume, make sure you have given the user rights to access the drive.

Ares ultra
Hi:

First off, Ares (just the basic open source software) is free. Any variations of this software are managed under the GPL and cannot be sold. You may have been ripped off.

However, for the connection problem, make sure any firewall software on your system is not blocking the connection. If you have a router with built in protection, you may have to configure the router to allow traffic to that port. For information on the reconfiguration of this, go to www.portforward.com.

Firewalls
If you want to disables Vista’s FIREWALL then you need to go into your Windows Security Center (you can easily turn ‘off’ the firewall from there).
Click Start and click Control Panel.
Click Security and then select Windows Firewall.
Click Change Settings.
From the window that appears, click the Advanced tab.
Remove the check beside the connection that you want to disable the Windows Firewall for.
Click OK.

have you got one live or windows defender?, if so check in the allowed menu to see if your roters ip address is being blocked, also check any other firewall or anti virus programmes.
