My laptop become very slow ...its 1 gb ram and 160 gb harddisk .... which os i should install please advise

You need to upgrad the amount of RAM.
The 4720 notebook is capable of running up to 4GB or ram on 32bit windows 7 OS

The OS requires 1GB of RAM to run.....

Therefore, you only have enough RAM to run window, and no spare ram that should be dedicated to the graphics and other system operations.

Action needed:
Buy 2x 2GB sticks of Kingston ValueRam and run the laptop on 4GB. It will be much faster than what is needed and should provide fast computer responce.

First, your pc5300 memory runs default at 6300Mhz, not 333. Perhaps your motherboard Front Side Bus line is 333 in which case the memory will drop to that speed, but if the FSB and memory match speed, then it would run at 6300. Since you have an older unit, I would suppose you are running only 333, and that is average speed for that config. In addition, you are only running 1 gig RAM, which is woefully inadequate for Windows 7, so everything you do is going to be slow.

Acer Aspire M3400 Desktop PC. Memory Upgrade Issue

please check the memory timing settings. if your mixing up ram they may not have the same memory timings and require you to go either higher or to the supported settings that either memory can use. for example if corsair runs at 8-8-8-14 and kingston runs at 10-10-10-16 then you will need to bump the settings to 10-10-10-16 since the computer is trying to set the timings for kingston to 8-8-8-14 which it does not support.

I recently purchased 2 1gb pny ram ram sticks hoping to upgrade my ram. After installing the 2 sticks the computer doesnt boot. I reinstalled the original 2 512mb sticks and the computer works fine. Is my...

Without the computer model and make I can't say if it is upgradable or not. Most are upgradable to some extent. You will need to look for the product description of your laptop on the manufacturer website you may want to download the user manual from them or check the manual you have if you still have it. Yo9u are looking for the max ability of the computer and at the speed and type requirements for your ram. Also, you should know that some companies make Ram of the correct type and class but for some reason will not work in some models. I have Kingston ram 2gb modules that will not work in my Laptop but I purchased Siemens Ram of the same type and it works fine. So it may just be a matter of Ram Manufacturer.

I have Compaque Laptop . It runs very slowly. Compaque has supplied me with Kingston 2gb usb but I dont know how to use it and whether by installing it will it improve the speed of my laptop,I do not know...

A computer can be slow by many reasons - viruses, bad sectors on the harddrive, lack of empty space on the harddrive and ofcource, small amounth of random access memory (RAM).
Only to mention, that the memory on the picture is not for laptops and you have written "usb", which is not memory for adding to the RAM space of the laptop.
I will assume they sent you the right kind of memory.
Installing it is easy. You will need a small x-screw driver to open a small cover on the bottom of the laptop. There re usualy 2 or 3 covers there. You may open all of them to see where is the memory connector. You may or may not already have memory there. Remove the old if there is no place for the new. To remove, pull two end latches to the side and the memory will tilt up. To insert the new, insert it the same way tilted and when the contacts are fully in the connector, press it down to lock the latches.

Installing Kingston 8 GB pen drive

It does not appear that kingston has released any support for its pen drives for windows 98. I would highly suggest upgrading your operating system. You may still be able to contact kingston, they may have a fix but it seems fairly unlikely.

Unable to run in dual channel mode

Welcome to FixYa.

Currently there is no bios update for your system. In the course of operating my business I have seen dual channel RAM run in single channel as a result of the CPU in use. This should not be the case in your model though.

I would encourage you to speak with a Kingston rep to solve this problem as you are well within warranty.

Toll-Free:+1 (877) KINGSTON
+1 (877) 546-4786
Here is the Contact Page for Kingston if you are outside the U.S.

They will be able to resolve your issue which has to be related to the RAM you purchased. Even though the memory configurator pointed you to this RAM, it may not be functioning correctly and should be replaced or upgraded to a more specific RAM model.

Regards, thanks for choosing FixYa.

You can run the Hardware Diagnostic CD that came with the system, or if you got AppleCare, run diagnostics to see if it is indeed a RAM problem. Removing one at a time can tell you if one is bad, but it doesn't tell you if the motherboard is bad as well. If you remove 1 of the RAM chips, you will loose half the RAM capacity, so your speed will slow down dramatically. It should still work, unless you had the minimum RAM. If you still have 512 MB or more, it will work, just a lot slower than before.
You can use other RAM brands like Kingston or Crucial. Just be sure that you get compatible RAM when buying new. It must match the other RAM (except for size).

You have the answer in your question. I have checked the PC specification and you are right, it uses PC2700 memory. Therefore you need to install PC2700 memory. PC3200 memory will be the wrong speed and will not be supported.
