Two possibilities. Either the ip number for the laptop is the same as the hard wired LAN connection (if so change one of the ip numbers to a different one unless using DHCP) or the wireless is failing in the router.

I have a linksys wireless g router that worked fine until yesterday. Now it won't connect to the internet. I have a desktop wired to the router and a laptop used wireless.

Check if you can connect to the internet when hooked directly to the modem. If your connection works fine through the modem, then your router needs to be reconfigured.

You have to configure your laptop the router. For that First down load the CD which came with the linksys router to your laptop. It carries all the instructions how to set up the internet connection. After downloading, Connect your laptop to router with Ethernet cable. Normally the linksys link should come up automatically. If it doesn't open the linksys link by clicking on the icon on the desktop.it will give you step by step instructions on how to configure your laptop to the wireless router. You should not have any problems as it is simple

Laptops connect to router but still cannot get on internet

It's just a wireless interference problem. All you need to do is change the wireless channel of your router. Login to the router's admin page and look for wireless channel under the WIRELESS tab. Change it to channel 11 and save the settings. That should solve your problem. You can play around with different channels and check which one is the best for your environment. Good Luck!

I have Time Warner Cable for internet and Vontage cable for my phone thru my internet. I'm trying to connect a Linksys router for my wireless laptop. I also have a Netgear switch connected to Time Warner...

If you purchased a Linksys wireless roter then you shoul not need the switch anymore-
Try going directly from your time warner modem into the Interner/WAN port on the router and then plug your desktop computer and the vontage phone system into 2 of the ports on the router. After everything is hooked up you will probably need to power cycle for it all to work correctly.
Please power cycle in this order:

Reboot modem - then Router- then Vontage phone system.

Hope this helps
