Yes, even after drive reformatting process, you do have chances to take your previous drive files back, as long as the original drive files are not overwritten by new stuffs there. What you need is only drive format recovery software which can help scan that drive one sector after one sector and do its utmost to rescue all scanned stuffs back.
So, in your case, connect this drive to your PC and search for a proper one over the internet.
Read more detailed information here:

Hope these words can help you a lot.

In theory, it is possible to recover deleted files back even after the reformatting process as long as these original files are not overwritten by anything new.
In fact, after the deleting process, the deleted files are not completely destroyed. They are still on this drive and become invisible only. So, as long as they are not rewritten by anything new, they could be there forever.
So, you need a drive data recovery freeware to recover these files back as you wish:

If you have not written anything to the disk since you accidentally formatted it I can recover all your files for you. If you wrote any files to it some of the files will be ruined. I have FBI forensic software that can do what you need and more. Rate this fixya and post an e-mail address and I will get the software to you.

Virtual Hard disk : does it mean i can create a VHD of 500gb on 320HDD and can put data more than 320gb? Is it possible? if it is then will i lose any data if my operating system goes bad?

Who told you that? No you cannot create a virtual hard drive with a storage capacity larger than that of the physical hard drive that contains it. And yes, you will lose any data stored on the hard drive if your physical drive is reformatted.

My hard drive is not working

Evidently the logic structure is damaged so:

1. if you are really lucky, you will recover everything just by installing EASY RECOVERY PRO... (there are free trials on the net) try easy recovery in The follow the instructions, install the soft. It should place an icon on your desktop, run the program and you will have a wizard, choose what to do, what disk to take (of course with the damaged drive connected) and when it comes to choose... choose "gross recovery" option. You will have to wait for awhile, then you will be in front of a list of directories and files inside... just see carefuly, it will be ordered by file extention (BMP, JPG, AVI, MP3, etc); choose those you need and unselect those you dont.
NOTE: the recovered data must be placed in another disk in a safe folder.

2. the disk is damaged for sure, so once you have recovered all you better replace you HD for a new one.

Start here:, this will do for a trial version, but if you know a little bit more, find yourself a full version on the net.

Good luck
