Hi!!
Check the Brake Pedal Position Switch on top of the brake pedal, the Lt Green w/Red stripe wire should always have 12v+, when brake pedal is depressed the Lt Green wire should have 12v+ also, if no power on Lt. Green w/Red wire, check fuse # 2 20A, if no power on Lt. Green wire when pedal depressed, REPLACE Switch, If there is power on both wires when pedal is depressed, check IVD STOP LAMP RELAY on the Aux. Relay Box 1 located at the Left Front of the Engine Compartment.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Brake light issue

I believe it deserves mention here that about 98% of all brake light malfunctions do not have anything to do with a blown fuse. In fact, fuses are NOT the CAUSE of electrical circuit malfunctions at all. Electrical circuit malfunctions cause fuses to blow. It is very important when diagnosing electrical circuits, that you understand this basic "cause and effect", so you do not waste time and effort looking for the wrong source of the problem. If there is a blown fuse involved in your brake light problem, you need to find out WHY. Simply replacing a blown fuse will not fix the problem that caused the fuse to blow and will only result in another blown fuse.

With that said, the fuse that protects your brake lamp circuits is Fuse 6B (20 Amp) in the instrument panel fuse block.

HINT: This fuse also protects your hazzard flasher circuits. If these work (front or rear or both) the fuse is not blown.

No brake lights check fuses no blown fuses but the center brake light work

If the center high mount brake light comes on when brake pedal is depressed, and the rear brakes don`t come on, and the fuses are not blown, then I would replace the rear bulbs.

Neither brake light will come on when I get on brake.Changed the fuse and bulbs already. keyless device only work sometimes. Put new CR2016 batteries in. Please help!!!

suspect a bad brake light switch,on the brake pedal itself.the key need not be on when checking the brake light switch.but requires 2 people.one to insure the brake lights come on,one to push the brake. theres a switch on the brake pedal itself. look above the brake pedal pad that you push to apply the brakes. you will see a plunger that moves in and out, just to supply the current to the brakelights.if the plungers out of sync,it will not work. or it may only be stuck.or simply bad,if it moves and brake lights do not work. if the plunger works on visual inspection, and is plugged up,the switch is suspect to be bad. thank you,for choosing fixya.com!! SIMPLE SOLUTION,CHECK THE BRAKE LIGHT FUSE. IT MAY ONLY BE BLOWN. UNDER THE DASH ON DRIVERS SIDE CLOSEST TO YOUR LEFT FOOT WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. WITH FLASHLIGHT,CHECK FOR BLOWN BRAKE LIGHT FUSE. if this fails, check for blown brakelight bulbs. unlikely that both brake light bulbs blown at once! but not unusall. thank you for choosing fixya.com!!

All brake lights on my 307 have stopped working at once what could be the problem

Hi,

This is caused by one of two things.

1) Blown fuse - check the fuse box for the fuse that controls the brake circuit. Replace as necessary.

2) Bad brake switch - If the fuse is not blown this indicates a faulty brake switch on the brake pedal itself. This will need to be replaced.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango I bought about 4 hours ago. The tail lights do not work but the brake light and turn signals do. Also the dash lights do not work. The dash lights came on when I hit the...

The odds are the one fuse is blown for the dash and the tail lights. And the wrong bulb may have been put in for the brake light. The brake light is feeding back into the tail light circuit causing the fuse to blown out.

Change out the bulbs with OEM bulbs and replace the blown fuse. That should fix the problem.

Toyo dyna 92 break lights not working , is there a fuse for this or is it hard wired bulbs ,work fine , ?

There is a fuse for the brake lights. Check fuse and replace if blown. If the fuse is not blown, check the bulbs themselves. If the bulbs are good, then the next step is to replace the brake light switch located under steering column attached to brake pedal rod.
