Depending on the exact problem, perhaps you need to connect an audio cable from the back of the drive to your sound card. It is a thin cable, not the power and not the wide ribbon cable.

Dvd will not play on inspiron 530

Hi Joe,

Does it happen to all CDs that you put inside the DVD player?

Do you hear any grinding noise ? If you always hear a grinding noise then its already a mechanical issue on your dvd drive.

You can also try booting up to a bootable disc (like your OS disc), if its not able to boot up to your OS disc, then you already need to replace your DVD or Optical drive.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks,

Dennis

I'M HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE SOUND ON MY LAPTOP.WHEN I PLAY A DVD THE PICTURE SHOWS BUT NO SOUND.HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

mcdevito75 here, It may be the sound track on the DVD itself, try another DVD and see how the sound is. If the sound is OK without any DVD being played you simply have to adjust the sound while playing DVD"s either at the speakers or with the volume control on your key board.

Hi, I'm having trouble with my compaq pesario desktop pc. Model # SR1303WM. The problem is with the dvd/cd-r/w drive. It recognizes some but not all cd's and it won't write to any cd-r. All I want to...

Hello
It sounds that your DVD/CD-r/W drive is broken, replace it, they are not expensive.
when a DVD drive going to break they usually do this way you described. some CD it read and some not.

other thing you can try is to change your CD burning software, try nero or easy cd creator.
if you buy a new DVD-r/w you usually gets a new burning software.

DVD plays partial sound

Check your speaker connections it sounds like you have a 5.1 or higher sound system. 5.1 means left front speaker, right front speaker, center speaker, right rear speaker, left rear speaker and subwoofer.

Voices in movies all get channeled to the center speaker (you can usually hear it a bit from the right and left front speakers as well). If your center speaker is disconnected or not working, you will only hear the background sounds.

No sound in Vista Media Centre

Hi Nickluck
Depending on the OS and Drivers, DirectX version I presume 9c, check your AverMedia TV card, in other slot PCI, and reinstall drivers, if required. Should work.
but, drivers, too for the Video Card, if Nvidia? download the latest.
Good Luck
