I moved a kenmore refrigerator model 59099990 into the cold garage. The light comes on, but the freezer is not cold, and I do not hear the compressor?

Model number is not valid check plate inside refrigerator. Usually Sears Kenmore start with 3 digit model number like 590.xxxxxxxx, and usually have characters that tell u what characteristics the model has and what color scheme.

G'day - look to see if the unit has a cooling fan on the condenser - sometimes when you move a cabinet the hand truck can push up under the cabinet and jam the fan blade - or the tubing under the cabinet has been damaged

you will have unscrew the facing off refrigerater then you can unscrew the plate off ice maker.

What is the temperature in the garage? If it is cold out there, the refrigerator will not turn on since the control is already cold, which causes the freezer to warm up to that temperature.

can you hear the evaporator fan motor running in the freezer side? this is what moves the cold air to the fridge side to keep it cool. need make and model to further assist you please.

I went to local.google.com to find fridge repair person nearby. They were able to come out the same day and solve the problem. The starter kit for the compressor was replaced. Sears couldn't make it until the following Monday when I called them on a Wednesday. I highly recommend shopping local and keeping the home town economy moving.

Make sure the freezer fan motor is running. The wires may have come off when it fell.

Unless specifically made for use in a garage most units won't work properly. The owners manual should say what the temp range for proper operation is (usually 55F is the low range). This is because the refrigerator section doesn't need to be "cooling" to maintain 37F if the temps on the outside are below 55F. These things are made to work in a 70F room and will not work properly if under 55F. Stupid thing thinks it's cold enough so it will never turn on, the refer section will stay cold/cool due to outside temps but since the compressor never runs the freezer will just be the same temp as the refer section (at best). Sorry, but in order for a freezer or refrigerator to work in an unheated space it must have the temp control device controling the freezer section NOT the fresh food section. In other words, that model will not work in a garage unless the temps are above 55F always.
