Yes do more adjustment on the head, it could have lost its calibration to the rest of the printer, be careful not to over do it.

good luck

Right, seems like a driver issue. Download latest driver. Uninstall/reinstall driver. Try a new cartridge coz maybe it's too used up and the head is kinda clogged.

Yeap, follow the advice posted by lucentrip and post back on hows it going.

Most likely a driver, issue, if the printer only prints the gargage while connected to the computer. You could also try another usb port.

That sounds like a printer driver issue. You may need to uninstall and reinstall the software suite and drivers that came with your computer.

I would download the latest versions for your operating system from the Epson website.

Unplug the printer from the computer, and uninstall the software. Download the latest version from Epson's website. Install it, and don't plug the printer back in until the install program tells you to.

Print a test page.

If this doesn't fix the problem, then I would consider other possibilities, but that's always my first suggestion.

combining the wrong paper and ink could result in banding (stripes across the image) or smearing of the image, says Grotta. If you don't buy the printer maker's own brand of paper, she says, check the paper's packaging to make sure it states that your printer and the type of ink you're using are compatible with the paper you use. (Inkjet printers use one of two inks: water-based dye or solvent-based pigment.)

THE FIRST TWO LINES OF A PRINTED DOCUMENT ARE PRINTING DOUBLE.

If your printouts contain misaligned vertical lines, you may need to align the print head. Make sure the EPSON Stylus CX3200 is turned on and not printing, and the Error light is off. Load plain, letter-size paper in the sheet feeder. Press a Menu button until you see Head Alignment, then press the Color Copy button to print an alignment page. On the test page, select the pattern with the two vertical lines most precisely printed on top of each other. You may need to use a magnifying glass or loupe. maint.6.7.1.jpg Select one pattern each for rows 1, 2, and 3. (In this example, pattern 8 is the best in each row.) Press the + or - button to select the number of the best pattern for the first row, then press the Color Copy button. Repeat this step for the second and third rows. Note: If you select a pattern other than 8 in any row, that pattern becomes pattern #8 the next time you align the print head. When you’re finished, press the Stop button.

Stylus printing striped alternating shades of yellow and green of image

Possible printhead issue.
Please reseat the black cartridge. Let the printer charge like it normally does.
Print a nozzle check pattern. If you see gaps, missing lines or missing colors on the pattern, clean the printhead using the driver. 3 consecutive cleaning cycle is recommended. Compare the nozzle pattern over the last printout. If you see any improvement, you can clean the head numerous times until you get a perfect nozzle check pattern.

Make sure that you are using correct epson cartridges.
Please print a nozzle check pattern. If you see gaps, missing colors or missing lines on the pattern, clean the printhead using the driver.
If the nozzle check pattern printed out successfully, please trash and re-install the drivers. The driver is available on epson.com

Epson 9600 quit printing all colors even when trying to print head alignment, I have pulled off head and cleaned and power cleaned several time.

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Dark vertical lines on printed photos 18cm apart

Remove the cartridge and put it back in. If same issue persists, try to do head cleaning and nozzle checks simultaneously from the computer.

Start -> Control Panel -> Printers & Faxes (Windows XP) / Printers (Windows Vista) -> Printer Icon (right click) -> Printing Preferences -> Maintenance

You should be able to see nozzle check, click it and follow the prompt. Line patterns that corresponds to the colors of the ink cartridges would be printed. If breaks on those patterns appears, continue with head cleaning. Try to do this about 3 times until all patterns are complete.

Remove ink cartridges one by one and put it back in. If same thing happens, try to do head cleaning and nozzle checks consecutively from the computer.

Q: How can I tell if the computer or the printer is causing a print quality problem? A: You can print a nozzle check pattern to determine whether the print quality problem is caused by the Epson Stylus Photo RX680 Series or some other source.

1 Answer

Printer has completely quit printing color with new ink installed

In order to determine whether this is a hardware or software problem there are several steps you can take:
1.Download and install the most recent printer driver from Epson

2. Try printing out the nozzle check pattern using the Maintenance Utility. This bypasses the printer driver and allows the printer to use all cartridges to print out the patterns. This will indicate whether there are clogged heads and whether or not it will print color at all. Gaps in the patterns indicate clogged heads and you need to run the Head Cleaning utility once or several times.

3. If you get color patterns from the nozzle check (whether or not the patterns are full or have parts missing) you need to check to see if the default settings for the printer have been set to "Black Ink Only". Right click on the printer icon and select "Printing Preferences". Click on the "Advanced" button in the lower right corner and after the popup, look on the left side and see it the "Black Ink Only" box is checked. If so, uncheck it and while you are there uncheck the "High Speed" box as well. This way you don't have to deselect it in the printer dialog each time you print, especially if you are looking for a quality print each time.

4. Try the printer on another computer if you get color during the nozzle check to see if the software is corrupt on your computer.

5. If you get no color patterns at all when doing the nozzle check, it would appear that you have a hardware problem within the printer. It would be unlikely that all the colors would fail at the same time due to severe head clogging.

Hope this helps in some way.
