Suggest the problem may be a plumbing issue - likely substantially blocked drain system, so the dirty wash water cannot properly pump out but rather remains in the dishwasher.
Suggest getting a plumber in to "snake" out your kitchen drain system. You will probably notice your sink drains will suddenly work much better too...
If you suspect the dish washer, try discharging the drain in a bucket. After the drain cycle check the wash tub. If water is still left, you have to clean the drain filter attached to the bottom. Refer user guide.
The final drain end of the dish washer where you discharge, the fixing junction has to be cleaned, incase it is clogged.
Check whether the main drain is OK at the junction where the dish washer out let hose joined. Clean the port if clogged. Try discharging the hose in a bucket. If the dish washer is emptied, you can check the main drain as said above.
Check your air gap on your drain. It should be located on or around your sink. Sometimes food and other trash will stop it up and will not let your dish washer drain. The cap should unscrew off .Good Luck.
