HORIZONTAL OUTPUT TRNSISTOR SHORTS WHEN POWER ON TV

ALL the next is with the tv unplugged (NO NO power)
  • resold the jungle (video processor) all around
  • following the horizontal drive pulse path and arriving to the horizontal area just after the horizontal transformer and in the base of the horizontal DRIVER there is a electrolytic capacitor (if this chassis uses this one,) Change it (maybe is dry)
  • solder all components i just told you in the last step. horizontal driver, transformer, etc
  • remember:
  • if a transistor is blowing with no reason (there is a reason: the collector receives 130 volts but cannot hold it forever, It has to be in some place. if the switching pulse doesn't arrive to it the transistor throws this 130 volts and burning itself. i hope it is help full.

Rear projection mitsubishi vs5042 no high voltage

Are you talking about the LV power supply or the HV power supply? The terminology your using is related to the horiz drive circuit. Have you checked the B+ off the regulator which should be about 120v or, it will on the pc bd for the correct voltage. Do you have sound? If you do then you will have to use use your scope to see if you have proper drive at the base of the Horizontal Output Transistor. Then we can go from there. Oh, by the way I can tell by the voltage readings you stated both of those transistors of turned off.

Sony Trinitron 2002 Model # KV-32HS500 stand by light blinks 7 times, pauses and repeats. No picture or sound.

7 times blinks shows problem in Horizontal Deflection stage of tv and possible defective part can be Horizontal Output Transistor or Fly back Transformer.
If your are qualified tech person then go ahead to check above parts.

I have a mitsubishi projection tv vs 6021 manf date may 1998. I have no picture no audio. the power swithc light is green and contiously flashes. Deos any one know what is wrong with it. thank you Denna

3 things will cause this and one wil be the problem. first off flashing green indicates protection mode.

Check for a faulty vertical chip. usualy removing it and briefly turning on the set will make the set work with a line across the middle of the screen. If the chip is the fault please replace the capacitors around the i.c as the fault will reaccur.

next check the horizontal out transistor , it should not be shorted between base and collector. if so check for dry joints around flyback trany and horizontal stage circuit.

last is the 8 volt regulator that supplies the micro its power. located on the power module.

TEAC CT-M685

This is a vertical-deflection problem. Try to adjust the vertical (height and linearity and hold) controls, which should be screwdriver potentiometer controls on the back of the set.

If this does not work, a defective component in the vertical-deflection circuit will need to be repaired.

I hope this helped you. :)

Akai PT4298HD No Power, Blinking timmer light

if you know aything about tvs which it appears you do check to see if you are getting voltage to the horizontal output ckt at the collector of the horizontal output transistor if you are probably you either have a horizontal drive or output problem if you are not check to see if you have either fuses or icps or pico fuses are open generally you will see about a 135 volts to yhe hoizontal output ckt.

Collector on horizontal output is 75 volts momentarily then to 0 volts.

Never measure the collector of the horizontal output transistor. When the set is on that voltage is spiking upwards of 1000 volts and could seriously damage the meter and possibly shock you. Measure the B+ pin on the flyback instead, it should be 135 volts. Usually what I find is that the flyback itself is shorted, so when you turn the set on the B+ comes up and the horizontal output starts conducting, but the computer senses the extra current in the flyback and shuts the set back off. The red timer light on the front of the set will then blink a certain number of times to indicate exactly why the set has shut down. If you do not have experience analyzing the Sony shutdown circuit then have a qualified tech handle it for you.

Clicking sound, wont turn on

If the output transistor is good you need to measure the voltage at the collector to see if it has the needed voltage to operate,is also important to check the conections in the horizontal driver transformer and also measure the volts at the collector of the horizontal driver transistor, before you check any voltages check for loose conections and overheated areas, after everything is nice and solid then you can check for volts,be careful while measuring voltages and try not to touch anything with your bare hands while the set is on.Let us know how it goes or if you need more information.
