You want to install memory on a 266 MHz PII?

A standard-configuration Armada 1700 has 32 MB of memory, and is expandable up to 160 MB.

Personally I don't recommend installing memory on this computer (I'd just buy a new one considering this one is pretty old), but if you still want to install memory complete the following steps:

  1. Remove the battery, floppy and disconnect the power supply
  2. Underneath the computer, there are several screws with arrows pointing to them. Remove these.
  3. There is one more screw in the center of the bottom shell. Remove this.
  4. Remove the laptop's bottom shell.
  5. Turn the laptop over and remove the keyboard.
  6. The memory is located on the left-hand portion of the laptop and is enclosed in a memory bay. Snap out the memory and install up to 160 MB SDRAM, assuming you can get your hands on it in the first place.
When finished, replace the keyboard and bottom shells, as well as the screws that you removed. Congratulations!

I have a compaq armada lap top and i tried 3 wireless connection and none of the are working

Your compaq wireless receiver may not be correctly configured. It is best to contact the hardware manufacturer and ISPs refuse to assist with the many variables in wireless connection problems.

I have just installed a 256MB SODIMM card on a Compaq Armada E500 laptop. On first boot up the laptop will not boot and I am getting an intermittent sound like an alarm. I didn't have the user manual...

Remove the memory card and try again, the alarm sound you can hear is probably a BIOS warning beep telling you something is not right (miss match with the RAM card you put in).
If the new card has any writing on it like manufacturer or speed details check the compatibility with www.crucial.com

Hi,

If you could possibly post back the exact model number such as MX00 or EX00, then we can determine processor speed, probable memory, hard disk capacity and from there determine which OS would work. and how to go about it eve if the CD is also faulty.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

After restoring a Presario 1700, a blue screen is displayed and the error says something about dumping physical memory. I have used the quick restore several times with the same result. Answers?

this could be a hardware problem. Open your tower,
1). check the inside of your tower for dirt and dust, give it a clean.
2). check your ram memory. be sure they're pushed in good. you may have a bad memory stick and need a new one. maby find a friend a use thiers to see for sure.
3). some times compatability problems can be conflicts enough to cause problems. check your hardware for compatability confilcts.
* but i'd check the memory first *

Hi ive just put together a compaq armada 1520 yes old i know think the hdd i put in is 1.4gb or 1.3 it has 16mb onboard memory and a 32mb stick added and ive just attempted to install windows xp pro sp2...

Id def try a bigger hard drive, chances are your processor, ram and hard drive arent good enough for xp, or if possible try to instal win 98 just to rule out other hardware problens, i really think that the pc is not going to handle xp very well to be honest.
