How old is the dryer? The heating element is probably no good.
It's possible to fix it yourself. Make sure it's unplugged before you start. You might want to check a parts store, or online to see what the heating element would cost. when this goes bad, the dryer will still spin, and the heat stops instantly. It's a little tricky taking the panels off, but there's not too much to a dryer. An electric motor that powers a belt to make it spin, the heating element, metal sides, top and bottom. Good Luck! LER5636P Electric Dryer: WILL NOT SPIN...

Hi there,
Well first of all you may check out the Door Switch if it's defective then your dryer is not able to spin, it may interfere with your dryer drum's ability to tumble. Test your dryer's door switch. If it is no longer functioning than you need to replace it. you need a multimeter to check it. Post further comments for more help or information......

Good Luck!!

WHIRLPOOL ELECTRIC DRYER.MODEL # LEQ9508PW1. DRYER IS NOT SPINNING. MOTOR IS HEATING AND RUNNING FINE. I OPENED TOP AND BELT IS ON BUT LOOSE. BELT IS NOT BROKEN JUST LOOSE. WHAT COULD THIS BE?

You will have to go farther and remove the drum.
I believe your problem is that the belt has slipped off of the motor, or has slipped off the idler arm with pulley brackett.

Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Dryer heats but quit spinning

Your belt has come off or has broken. Do you hear the motor running? If so, then the belt is broke or off.
