When you start the machine keep pressing F8 until the machine boots, it should boot straight into safe mode. Safe mode will look different from the regular Windows mode. Once safe mode has opened there will be user boxes, one with your son's user account, one with administrator account, and possibly one with the guest account. Click on the administrator account. This is where you need to be in order to clear the password.

I suggest you try to run your computer on safe mode by pressing F8 when booting up. Advance menu options will pop up and choose run on safe mode. When it load the Windows, try to figure out what you installed or you before your computer happens. I suggest that you download also windows registry cleaner to fix some errors in your computer that prevent you to go to windows screen when booting up on normal mode. Run the FULL SCAN and press the fix errors button.
You need restart your computer and keep hitting key "F8" while starting up
This will show list of startup available.
Then you need to select "Safe mode" using Up/Down key and hit enter.
This will take you to safe mode.
click on start and then run.
type msconfig and press ok
in the system configuration utility window that pops up click on the boot.ini tab on the top
uncheck the /Safeboot option.
click OK and restart the system and this should make the system boot back into the normal mode.
To boot to safe mode: Restart
the computer. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, keep tapping on F8 key on your
keyboard. When the Windows Options menu appears select the "Safe
mode" then press Enter.
you managed to boot to Safe mode, change the computer startup and
recovery settings by right-clicking "My Computer" then select
Properties. Select Advanced tab. Under Startup and Recovery, click
Settings. Uncheck the box for "Automatically restart" under System
Reboot again normally, see if it will reboot again by
itself. If you managed to make the system boot normally, proceed to
Events Viewer to find out what is the caused.
If the system
failed to boot normally after doing the above, you might want to boot
the system to "Last known good configuration"
