Hi,
God Of War basically a bit heavy game regarding data and capacity, so that if the optical of your playstation would be weak then it will not play until you would change it or get cleaning, normally when we talk about GOW II it needs healthy lens, although your console play all the games except GOW II very smoothly. Contact any expert to get cleaning of your PS2 lens and enjoy the game.
Thanks

Sonic heroes on PS2 wont work, need help

If the DVD you are buying is original then it will just work on your ps2 that is also not downgraded. But if the DVD you bought is downgraded and your PS2 is not then it won't work. look for a technician who can downgrade your ps2 to read pirated copy of games. In philippines, we don't buy original copies, we just download it from the internet and burn it to a dvd. At the same time we downgrade our PS2

Playstation 2 won't play DVDs

if it's a fat PS2 and
model SCPH 30001, SCPH 35001
(not including the models with an 'R' after the model #.

these models need the following to play DVDs:
- PS2 DVD remote with IR unit
- PS2 DVD disc player (sold with DVD remote w/ IR unit)
- PS2 memory card

you copied the DVD disc to the memory card. you used the memory card to play DVDs.

later models didn't need the memory card to play DVDs.

hope this helps :D

Play station 2 won't read silver disc only reads blue disc

Hi Elvis,

The Blue back disc is CD format. The DVD laser circuit is giving you trouble. You can adjust the DVD pot some on the back of the Laser. Turn it about 3 degrees clockwise. Then put it the laser back in. Test the PS2 with no cover on, and use the white round disc from the laser drive cover to clamp a disc onto the spindle. Test DVD and PS2 Games that do not have Blue back.

PS2 Slim won't read dvd games

Blocking the sensors did you in I'm afraid. What has happened is the *DVD* read mechanism has gotten goofed because of this, but the *CD* read mechanism is still ok. Maximo and a few other PS2 games were actually on CD, not DVD. If you look on the back cover, you will see the Compact Disc logo (in the lower right area on the box for Maximo). These games have a blue bottom disc instead of the silver bottom. You can attempt to re-align the laser which is a fairly lengthy process and there are numerous guides out there to do this. Here is one: http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars Note that this guide is for the larger model but the concept of lens adjustment is still the same and a quick google search will provide more in-depth detail. Since you have already opened your system, this may be an option for you. If the PS2 was purchased new as you said, it might not be the worst idea to exchange it for a new model as the lens going out this soon might be an indication that the unit wouldn't have lasted that long to begin with. Also just a friendly reminder that opening your PS2 voids your warranty and double check the return policies of where you bought the system.
